a guy i know has a hi-point 380 and he says the slide locks back after every shot. he wants to know why it does that and how it can be fixed(besides selling it and buying 1911/glock/Springfield etc etc....)

No reason to be embarrassed about owning a Hi-Point. Come on, it's yours isn't it? I have two and they are both excellent.

If the slide is locking back after each shot I would suspect the spring on the last round hold open lever. It could possibly be a weak recoil and/or striker spring.

Try calling Hi-Point and telling them you need to talk to a tech about a problem with your gun. They should be able to figure it out over the phone, talk you through it and send the part.

If that doesn't work or you don't feel comfortable with the disassembly process than by all means send it in. They will probably give you an extra mag for you troubles.

Good luck and enjoy!

nah not mine i wouldn't mine getting one if its cheap enough but im more of a 1911,xd type guy. ok the problem isn't when he shoots it. what happens is that when he loads a magazine in with the slide locked back and he hits the slide release it just stays open. it does this with empty mags or full mags and he has tried with 2 different mags a 10rd and a 8rd. when you hit the slide release it feels as if its catching the mag lips or something im not to sure

I can't remember what the HiPoints look like on the inside, but the rounds in the mag might be hitting the slide stop. Anyone else know?

After dropping the safety/slide release you must then pull the slide back completely and then release the slide. Then it will go into battery.
