Hey Guys,

I've got a decent collection but i want to add a a hi point carbine. More specificaly a 995tsrd 9mm. Does any one have pros and cons they can give me on it or can tell me where to get one? No one seems to ever talk about them and the very few places that sell them are all sold out.

Thanks

ps go easy on me this is my first thread

I have one of the original Hi Point 9mm carbines. It is butt ugly, never fails to send the bullet downrange, and it does it accurately and cheaply. I am considering the ATI stock for it. I don't think it will increase the functionality of it, but it does lower the butt ugly factor.:)

Man the prices have gone up on these, i got mine like 5 years ago for $169 new.

And the new stock? Not an improvement really. Maybe instead of the craptastic stock they could put out the 45 carbine they've promised for something like 10 years.

I do like mine though, startingly accurate and mostly jamless(it didnt like the CorBon 90gr+p) hopefully they kept the old sights because they are spectacular.

Yeah if I could find one for $169 new with the old stock I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Many here seem to want $220 or so for used ones.

My local dealer had the .40 carbines for $147.00 a few weeks ago and I didn't get over there. I need to circle back and see if they have any left.

I spent last Thursday shooting with my ex-father-in-law, and he mentioned how he disliked it's appearance (I have the 995 with an ATI stock and a TruGlo red-dot scope on it). After running a couple magazines through it shooting clay birds on the 25-yard range, he changed his opinion to a more favorable one.
I really like mine (bought over 2 years ago), it doesn't fail to feed, fire or eject any brand of ammo I've shot through it, and the accuracy has been more than acceptable for me. My biggest complaint are the factory mags only at 10 rounds. A fun gun to fart around with. With the aftermarket stock and scope added, I probably have $300 invested in it.

Alot of guys bash the Hi points , i haven't had any problems with the TS model it eats everything i feed it ,even reloads.
Its not a long range tact driver (but were talking 9mm) its a great plinking gun cheap to shoot and fun. Quality is fair for the price with a generous waranty to boot.

If you haven't had the fun of owning one yet - get out there and buy one !

They are a seriously good gun for the money , and the company stands behind them better than most any other product you can buy.

i wish they would make one to take sten mags, i'd pay a lot more for it but i assume it would be pretty hard to make one take sten mags without completely redesigning the mag well area

They are nice guns, they are no AR, but i have enjoyed mine. accurate to about 75/100 yards. Disassembling is not the easiest (i have never taken mine apart) but they are great for plinking or teaching new shooters. I have gotten bored with mine after about 200 rounds, and now am looking to sell it. Send a PM if you would be interested.

Thanks for the help, i'm trying to find a new one in the box but nobody seems to have them in stock.
