Love them!

Hi point carbines are awesome. I haven't owned one in .40; bought .45 and 9mm. Sold the .45 when I consolidated on ammo. I also have both old and new style. Accurate and fun. A bit heavy, but recoil is minimal. Did I say fun? Mine have been very reliable.

Mine is 100% reliable with Tula steel ammo. It is simple to operate, low recoil, fairly ugly, and the kids like to shoot it. I have a light attached to mine and often keep it beside the bed at night.

Like many, I wish it had a factory option for a higher capacity magazine.

Very well made for the price and made in USA.Gun snobs don't like
'em because they don't cost $1000 or more.I'd get it......jh
No, gun "snobs" don't like Hi Points due to spotty quality control.

Quality might be a problem with the handguns, but the carbines have a great reputation and reviews. Before buying my 995ts, I searched for problems and reliability issues with them and found very few negative reviews and almost all rated them very good rifles. Even the top named brands have a lot more complaints than these carbines. I found almost nothing negative about the 995ts.

I find the newer models much "uglier" than the "planet of the Apes" original style. Also not as comfortable.

I would prefer the original stock over the new.

On the other hand the one API stock gun I handled seemed sweeter than either.

I have oft wondered why no one came out with something like the Taylor drum magazine or a Luger snail magazine for these guns.

I am also amazed given all the bubba-ing that goes on in the firearms world that no one has bubbad a double to single feed magazine like say S&W 59 series, Beretta 92 or ancient and honorable P35 FNHP mag.

Well here's an example: (several malfunctions during a few rounds)

Shaq, what is YOU'RE experience with the gun?
Irrelevant question. I don't buy cheap guns; what your point? You think such videos are fake & anyone who reports negative experiences with a gun is lying?

No, I didn't say anything like that. But one video showing poor performance is hardly meaningfull IMO.

I was attempting to point out that the vast majority (by my unscientific measurements) of negative comments are reported by people who have never even fired a HighPoint. Meanwhile, actual owners almost never have anything bad to say.

Just an observation.

Watching the video posted, it appears that the issue was narrowed down to a bad magazine, the gun shot everything out of a different magazine without a glitch.

Given that issue, I bet if you called Hi-Point they would send you a magazine to replace it. or if you sent them the gun or gun and mag, they would fix whatever was broken and send a spare mag for your trouble. that has been their mode of operation and support.

I like others have shot hundreds of rounds through mine and never had a problem. I do think the spring loaded butt plate is overkill, and am working on a mod for mine to limit/slow its travel.
