Have had it over 2 years and works flawlessly every time at the range. Accuracy under 1" at 25yds with open sites. Feeds the cheap Blazer ammo the best, as well as the Wally world 100pk. I would gladly take Repsychler's off his hands. And I am going to get another if they ever offer other calibers. Saying you like a gun, and saying you would buy another, are very different.
HiPoint makes a good carbine.
I've had mine since last fall and it functions flawlessly with my reloads in 115 FMJ and 124 RN as well as factory 115 FMJ. It has mild recoil and decent accuracy with the open sights and with a scope. And it's simply fun to shoot.
Downsides are:
1) No last shot hold open.
2) You have to take the front sight off to disassemble the receiver block/bolt from the barrel.
3) I put a scope on and took it to the range. The scope rail worked loose from the receiver shroud. So I had to take it home to remove the shroud so I could use lock washers to stabilze the scope rail. It worked fine on my next trip to the range.
So even with some shortcomings it is an inexpesnive gun that's just plain fun to shoot.
I bought mine brand new and it came with the Weaver rail. You have to remove the open sights then attach the rail by removing the receiver shroud. I bet if you call Hi-Point they may be willing to send you one free. It's kind of small and flimsy but it does work. Good Luck!
thanks for the great suggestion, I think you're right about Hi-Popint sending me one.
I take it then that iron sights cannot be used with the red dot scope, it's one or the other, right?
If the Red Dot Scope uses a Weaver rail then yes you must take off the iron sights to attach the rail to the receiver shroud. I don't know of a way to attach the iron sights onto the rail so it's one or the other.
