Hickok45 Groupies?

He has some cool videos but I didn't care for his XD review, I felt that he went into that review having already decided that he didn't like the XD45 and I commented on that. He quickly deleted my comment and banned me from commenting in the future, after that I decided he was a bit of a tool.

I still think his comment on the XD mags was hilarious:
"Hmm, metal magazines, I'm not used to that"

Seriously, has this guy ever shot any pistol besides the glock? 99% of pistols out there use metal magazines.

He also did some crying about how hard the new XD mags were to load in comparison to his heavily used glock magazines. My XD mags are pretty easy to load without tools whereas my glock 17 magazines can be rather hard to load to the full 17 round capacity.

After reading what you say, it seems must be under Glock in some manner. So although he is a good shot, his reviews should be skipped if that's the way he works.

Metal magazines?!.....hmmm....and here I had thought all guns originated in plastic. I remember watching the History channel and how the first barrels were molded from plastic. ;)

Glock mags are metal...covered in plastic.

I'm not sure they have always been that way though (I'm a bit new to Glocks)

About Hickok45,
I asked him a question a few weeks ago about my Glock...and he answered it in a timely manner, but he was ....something...not quite sure what the word is.

"Gruff" I guess fits best...maybe he was having a bad day.

I wish he would do a video on the G36, I don't think he owns one...but I'd loan him mine to do the video. I'm not sure where he lives in TN...but I'd be willing to take the drive just to meet him (I'm in TN too), and sling some lead...I think I could hit that 230 yard gong a time or 2.

I don't guess I'm much of a groupie...but I do enjoy his videos, he separates fact from BS in a very effective manner.

" But I'm especially envious of his range, I wish I had one just like it!"

I am still trying to figure out the search terms for "how far from XYZ do I need move to & how much acreage do I need , so I can shoot on my own land..."

Umm, I think that he was trying to be funny. Obviously didn't come across to everyone. I think it's just like when he talks about his zombie problems and needing a bayonet for hunting. It's just a running joke.

Yes, have watched him for several months. Nobody else ever mentioned him on gun forums.
Very entertaining. And check his t-shirt: "Celebrate diversity".

Have never seen anybody else video several hits on a metal gong from about 100-200 yards in a free stance, with an AK clone.

I bought my SR9c due to his video! A great watch!

He makes me want all the guns!

You can almost see him on horseback with rifle and handgun!

So did I! I had been studying them and it was one of the 3 9mm's I had narrowed it down to.

His channel is awesome. I've been a subscriber for about 6 months now.

He even has a "radio show" that I enjoy listening to as I'm cleaning guns or doing brass prep.

"Groupie" is such a harsh term, I prefer "nut-swinging, ball-embracing fanboy" lol.

And yes I am one.

He seems to like the XDm quite a bit better than the XD.

As for the Glock magazines being easy to load, check out his latest comparison between the M&P40c and the Glock27. He gives props to the M&P for holding 10 rounds and that its easy to get 10 round in the magazine as opposed to the 9 round mag of the glock in which he only puts 8 rounds in because its a pain to put that 9th round in.

I'm sure he's going to step on some toes from time to time, some more sensitive than others I suppose.

I'm also a big fan of his vids. Doesn't seem full of himself and admits if he doesn't know everything about a certain gun. I believe it's his son that does most of the camera work for his vids and he does an amazing job.

I've watched about four or five of his videos; I guess I'll be in the minority and say that I don't find them particularly informative in any way. They are just videos of him shooting a gun and giving his very personal point of view on whether he likes it. Anybody could create the same content. After the first couple, they all kind of run together and are very predictable.

I do like his presentation style and he seems like a nice guy. It would be nice to have a backyard like that too; if I were him I'd want to build a real bench for the rifles.

Some of his videos are of course his personal preference. Others he does show things such as triger break points between various gun which I find very useful as I don't have much quick access to a LGS to where I can go see this for myself.

I appreciate his humor and his videos that are obviously done for just that, such as the tactical Smart car.

I'm a big fan of his. I've learned quite a few useful things from his videos, aside from being thoroughly entertained. He's funny, down to earth and skilled. I also like his reviews, I usually see if he has a review on a gun before I buy it.

I usually can't stand long youtube videos, but I can watch his all the way through without thinking to stop the video *cough..nutnfancy*cough. He really should have his own t.v. show or something. He's got a great voice too, sounds like John Wayne.

It was so funny seeing that giant man climb in and out of that tiny clown car.

I got a kick out him shooting out the right side of the car, his hand was a foot out the window. 107 mpg highway, 89 mpg woods.

For those not aware, he explains why he had the smart car. Hit a deer with his Honda and that is what he picked out from the rental car lot just for kicks, but admits after a week and a half of driving it, it prograssively got smaller. Love the rapid fire videos too.

He mentions Steve lee on several occasions and has him in a few videos, for those that like the Hickok45 videos, check out the Steve Lee video, I like guns. I believe it was Steve Lee who wrote the 'theme' song that accompanies some of Hickok45's videos.

Hickok45 is an Elementary school teacher as well as a deputy (volunteer perhaps?)

i found him looonng ago..he had about 2k subs then. I think his videos are great...and i treat them like a tv show with no commercials. Why on earth should a youtube video be 2min long? thats ridiculous...you watch a 30min show on tv thats 15 min commercials ...why not a 15 min video commercial free??? crazy talk.

i love the history slant and the real world attitude no...1oz instead of 1.5oz BS

who did the crying? lol

He does own dozens of every make and mode handgun including wilson and Baers, Nighthawks, and he also owns several xd's. He just recentlly gave the new XDM a rave review, they sent him the gun to test. I think that if Springfield is sending guns to Hickock, they must value his opinion. The falacy is that he only shoots Glocks, that is not true, as mentioned he has just about any gun you can mention including an extensive rifle and shotgun collection.
He does say that he loves glocks, that's a given, he feels that if a 1911 were made in plastic and dehoned and had the safties removed, it would be a glock.

I love his vids. I hope he keeps making them for a long time.

As for bias, duh. He wears a Glock hat and shot Glocks in competition for years. So what if he has good taste? :)

Have you seen how many Glock mags the guy has? No wonder he's not that interested in the XD. I feel the same way when I see an M&P. Sure, I could buy one. Then I'd have 3 Glocks, 18 Glock mags, and the one M&P. It's just not worth it at this point. I already have too much stuff to lug to the range.

I know he borrowd the HK I believe from someone in TN. He said he doesn't normally like to do that all but he hadn't done the P30 yet and he's had a lot of requests for it. So maybe offer him?

And yes I'm a fan boy. Great stuff to watch while cleaning guns and or for when I'm bored.

He get so many requests and questions I don't know how he keeps up with it. It's like he's on a mission to educate and explain gun related problems dispell rumors and teach methodology without shoving it down your throat. He leads by example which is how great leaders lead. You can't argue with sucess. When you see results you have no choice other than to think , hey maybe this old guy knows something that I don't.
And he always says, this works for me" I don't know if it's right or wrong for you , but it works for me. Same with a simple gun cleaning video, he makes it simple because it is. Most people tend to try and make what they do seem difficult, this way it appears that they are smarter or more skilled than they are. He does the opposite. You need not know how a star is formed to see one.
