Well sirs, what you people think about the old High Standard Fliteking pump guns? My friend just got a NIB one for $150 . His is a riot model with extended mag and flat hardwood stock and parkerized. It sure looks like it's alot better made than a Mossy, but somehow looks like one. I seem to remember these guns were supposed to be the best pump made in the 1960s-1970s. Should I trade him an old 870?

High Standard shotguns......

were extremely well made. They certainly feel more substantial with their steel receivers. As I recall, the military was looking quite close at them at one time. Very tough and reliable. Not accepted into military service because the barrels didn't change out as easily as other models. I once owned one of their RIOT models and liked it alot. A true classic police riot gun. Be aware that they are chambered for 2.75 inch shells. No disadvantage.....in my opinion.

Hold on to the 870.

The folks bought one in 20 gauge after I left home as a spare. It was not as foolproof as an 870 and I could tie it up nicely by torquing the pump stroke.

The thing did like Brenneke slugs, and it had a decent trigger.

While my experience was bad, lots of folks whose opinions I trust look more favorably on the HS stuff.

Very Nice SG

Both the Model 200 series and Flite King K-120/121 shotguns in 12ga. where good quality shotguns. I particularly like the riot versions and if this one has a steel trigger housing - even better. The weakest part of one of these guns is the aluminum trigger housing where the front locking ears would break (same place the plastic Mossy 500's like to) Mine has a steel trigger housing.
The 20 ga. Flite King Model K-2011 were a whole different gun and these were less reliable, not as smooth, and since the stock was bolted to the aluminum trigger housing they were very prone to breakage. Replacements are all but impossible to find in the 20 ga. model.

I have little respect for the Flite King auto's.

Bottom line - the gun you mention is worth having .
