I would appreciate some advice/info about replacing the hammerspring on my 1976 H.S. Sharpshooter .22LR.

I've replaced/modified these and other springs on CZ and Sig, but they were simple. On the H.S. It looks like the hammer (or more) has to come out to remove the hammer strut and spring. Before I do that, is there a "be careful of" or an alternative way to swap the spring? Can the strut come out through the grip access slots? (unlikely)

On rimfirecentral, I was advised to buy a book. That's probably good advice for someone who plans future High Standard repairs, but I don't. I've replaced the recoil, firing pin and several other springs already. It's 32 years old and this is the first and last gunsmithing project for a High Standard pistol that I ever intend to do.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Thanks, I didn't think of that and may give it a try.

I still hope a H.S. shooter happens on my question.

Bingo

A gentleman on the rimfirecentral forum (jaybar) sent me a step-by-step procedure with the 'watch out fors' included. The 'watch out fors' are very important. I'm glad I waited for some help.
I may be a while getting to this;as it sounds like I'll need a third hand; but it shouldn't take long after I get going.
Thanks for the suggestion cdrt.

You're welcome

Glad you found a "how to". I know all about that third hand. Needed one when I replaced the hammer spring in a Ruger revolver.
