Alright folks, I was wondering if anyone out there is making a detachable mag for the K.31 Swiss rifle that holds more than 6 rounds. I know it would have to be aftermarket (it seems the Swiss never made a higher capacity than that), but I was wondering if anyone has heard of such an animal?

Fairly unique question you asked there. Interested to see if anyone has done it, and why.

Some of the early model Schmidt Rubins had 12 round mags and I believe they fired an earlier version of the same cartridge.

Of course those mags are probably very collectible now.

from another forum:

the Stgw 57 24 round magazine can be modified relatively easily to fit the k31 magwell... Spare 57mags are plentiful but to find k31 magazines without a gun is difficult.

I'd like a 10 rd. mag (hold half the contents of a box of ammo, or the whole content of one of the Swiss GP-11 cigarette box style packs of ammo. Why would they package 10 rounds to a box when the rifle holds 6 rounds. You'd think 6,12, 18, or 24 rounds per box, but I digress). Granted the mag is kept in place by a catch on the side of the mag. I have a hard time seeing myself be able to work something up.

K31 assault variant.

Well, the Swiss felt that the dangling magazine was too likely to be damaged, and while it is removable, the rifleman didn't have multiple magazines.

hence the use of those odd cardboard chargers, or the very few rifles modded to use a mauser style clip.

as for the 10 rnd boxes, they come 6 boxes to a battle pack, 4 battle packs to a case, i guess they just expected you to have 60rnds in chargers.

leather bandoleer has 6 pouches-one for oiler & cleaning stuff leaves 5, each of which holds 2 strippers, so--10 x 6= 60 which is what a 'box' of GP-11 has in it.
