I liked The Daily Beast on Facebook because I like to get my news from a variety of sources. I know they probably have a bias, but all news sources do; that's why I like a variety. Fox News AND NPR...

Yesterday they had an article by Cliff Schecter, called "AK-47's, Now Made in America. The Perfect Killing Machine Comes Stateside." It was full of handwringing about American made AK's.

I commented (not exact quote, but close):
Fact: Some of the first gun control laws in the US were meant to keep guns away from African Americans.
Fact: [I posted a picture of József Tibor Fejes] This is a picture of what is believed to be the first civilian who owned an AK-47. He took it away from a Soviet while fighting against Communism. He lost because not enough of his friends had AK-47's.

Just Sayin'

A guy from my church liked my comment, and then within a few hours my comment totally disappeared.

I went back and commented that "The Daily Beast is both anti-gun AND pro-censorship," and I was told I probably broke some rule, so they took me down.

I guess I should not be surprised, but I find it profoundly disturbing that a media source would selectively delete comments that they do not agree with. I am strongly pro-gun, but on some level I can sort of understand the mothers and their "Won't somebody think of the children" quotes. I disagree but I can kind of understand.

But how on Earth can Americans defend a media source deleting comments they do not like?

A decent percentage will applaud it. They don't care for any viewpoint other than their own.
This occurs on both sides of politics.
Additionally, the media-government complex is a real thing. Check out the relationship between White House Staffers and major network execs. A bunch of media families work in the White House.
When media companies lay people off, jobs as political spin doctors are one of the few options.
TL,DR: He who has the gold, makes the rules. Hence Bloomberg running his 'how to run anti-gun stories' training camp. You won't see any of the attendees asking the NRA how to write pro gun articles.

Not NPR! Are they not extremely left wing? Maybe I'm wrong. I've heard they are gov't maintained, another example of our taxes being wasted.

Hello short barrel.
To be clear, the online publication The Daily Beast is the group that deleted my comment, and not NPR.

I actually appreciate NPR's international news, though I will agree, in my opinion, they have a left wing bias. As I said, I like to collect news from many different places so I can be a better voter.
