I wont waste much time since I understand most folks dont care much for Hipoints. A few weeks ago I purchased a used Hipoint 9mm carbine for $100 not expecting much. I thoroughly stripped it and cleaned it before taking it to the range today. I was checking groups at 20yds mainly to see if it would cycle and keep 'em on the paper.
I ran 50rds of winchester white box wallyworld special stuff thru it without a hiccup. Kept the 10rd groups within 3inches.
Then I ran 50 rds of CCI Blazers (yes, I am cheap) thru it with no problems. However, these all stayed with 2inches and the best 10rd group measured one and quarter inches (yeah, it was at 20yds with a carbine, so I'm not Wyatt Earp--but it impressed me).
What really impressed me was the 100% feed and function. I have had cheap guns and I have had inexpensive guns. There is a difference.
The lightweight sure gave a punch to the shoulder. The only thing I would change would be to add a rubber buttpad. Just my experience.

I've had one for a couple of years now. Never had a problem with it malfunctioning. The rear site got bent up a little when I mounted a red dot. The factory sent a new one to me within 3 days. Great little carbine.

I have never liked any of their handguns that I have shot/handled.....but........It pains me to say this..........SIG snobbery losing hold...........

.....

Those little carbines are great little guns for the money. I have shot three or four of them and all have been 100% reliable, pretty accurate and generally seemed worth the money and maybe even worth a bit more. I don''t like the ergos too much and that bolt release bites me from time to time but that is really all I have to say negative about the ones I have played with.

Now they are uglier than sin and not in a good (Read Glock) kinda way.:D

..........SIG snobbery losing hold...........

What's this? Disloyalty among the SIG Snobbery? 30 lashes with a whip made of old SIG barrels!! :D

What would make me laugh (and probably buy one) would be if Hi Point would make a .45ACP version and make it so that it takes P220 magazines. I'd have to have one. And oh, I can just picture the looks on some faces.

And yeah, I've fired one of those carbines once. It was fun and a nice little shooter. I have to agree, there was a lot of perceived recoil from it being so light.

Some once described an activity as kinda like riding a moped. Huge fun, but you wouldn't want your friends to catch you doing it.:p

How would the HiPoint do for a lefty shooter? I'm turned off of the sub2000 because of reports that the blowblack thru the ejection port kinda sandblasts your face:(

Hutch......I'm a lefty and own one and don't worry about it at all.....it works just fine for a lefty..........

I had one of these carbines but I sold it before I ever shot it. I bought it cheap and from the feel, I assumed that it would be a POS so I never bothered to shoot the thing, now I wish I had.

I was just comming off a bad experince with a Tec-9 and I didn't even give the little Hi-Point a chance.:( I bought it from a co-worker that needed money and sold it a week later to recoup my money. I would like to have a small light 9mm carbine but it seems I let one get away. I won't ever sell a gun before I shoot it again.:banghead:

A friend bought one a couple years back and we too found it uncomfortable to shoot from the shoulder. The SKS he bought the same day proved much more popular.

Anyway I posted about that on another board and somebody coughed up with putting that expanding foam insulation in the stock. We haven't tried it so I can't say if it works. We plan on trying it someday, if he ever brings it back down this way. Since the gun is essentially useless to him now there's nothing to lose.

Actually we figured the thing was built to be shot from the hip. That was about the most fun we got out of it.

Guys it's a 9x19mm carbine. It doesn't exactly have ferocious recoil. I mean sure maybe it is more recoil then say a Ruger PC9 but again we are not exactly launching Tomahawk missiles out of it.

Maybe I am just used to shotgun recoil or something but that little carbine is nothing to shoot.

Just my opinion and we all know what those are like. :D

I have to agree with cslinger, I have no clue where these recoil complaints are coming from. I just fired my hipoint carbine for the first time last week and after the first shot I had to check the target to make sure I actually sent a bullet downrange. I was expecting a more noticable recoil after reading comments on here.

I didn't mean that it has a lot of recoil, just that what it does have is uncomfortable. More like a sharp sting than the hard thump of a big bore. And I wasn't the only one to notice. The owner and one other felt the same and didn't care for it.

I figured it had something to do with the stock and how it transmits energy to the shoulder. Thought about how to change that very briefly and then decided I didn't care, wasn't my gun, and I was going to go have some more fun with the SKS :)

To be more accurate I should have said "There was a lot more recoil than I would have expected from a measly little 9x19." As a comparison, I was also shooting my Marlin 1894C and there was less recoil from .357 magnum loads in it, but it's made of real steel and wood.

recoil

ok, ok, you are right. It isnt like shooting my M44, but not as light as my 10/22. It was a light load 9mm. The shooting from the hip idea sounds great, but not at this range. Where I go, I could get thrown out of the club if they saw me do that (something about having all shots impact the berm so they have to be controlled--aimed). All in all, I love my carbine and am awaiting the .45 carbine that the lady at the factory told me about a couple weeks ago. She said they are putting the last "tweeks" on it.
