Anyone know of rifels from South Carolina in early 1800s from smiths by the name of Hoy? They made guns with fancy boxes built in and fancy shell inlays. Patrick Hoy was known to be a "straightner of rifels". I know they exsist and would like to have a photo of one.
I do shoot some pyrodex and have a 45 cal kentucky and a newer 50 cal rifels.
Thanks. felix

Patrick Hoy is well known as a South Carolina gunmaker.
He was born in Ireland in 1787, moved to Spartanburg in 1804, and lived until 1860.
Sorry, I could not find a picture of one of his rifles.

His great, great, great grandson uses his tools to make decorative ironwork... but not muzzleloaders.

What kin are you of his?
Thanks for the info. Patrick Hoy was my GGGG grandfather. Would you pass my contact info to the person who has his smithing tools? Or even contact me with his? [email protected] Thanks. felix
