HK cust service is terrible, but it is generally not needed because the guns just work.

I would go with the P30.

Glock because of Hk motto. "You suck and we hate you". Just wanted to be the first to say it. Glock and with the money you save buy mags and ammo.

I actually like H&Ks more than Glocks, but it's real hard to dismiss the Glock simply because of the price and [more available and cheaper] accessories. If you're looking for an EDC: Glock. If you want something to keep around the house: H&K.

Edit: durrrrr... OP actually had a question. I have two H&Ks and have never needed to go to customer service. Not exactly a direct answer to your question but I hope it helps.

I would take the HK, but I prefer a good DA/SA trigger over striker fired.

Considering they are vastly different in terms of operation, you should strongly consider going to a range where you can rent them and see which one you like better. Either will do great, just pick the one that fits you best.

I have had two situations with hk customer service, not because there was something wrong with my guns but because I was looking for a part number to make a modification. Both times they were no problem, even went so far as to call mr back to see how the part fit. Go with the hk, you won't he disappointed.

Thanks for the replys. Good luck finding anywhere to rent one around here.

impartial. Really like the feel of the HK but see many more Glocks around. Pricing probably.

try an M&P pro. the price/capacity of a glock and the feel/trigger of a P30. I've shot all 3 and bought the M&P pro. would have saved for the H&K if I had to choose between the two.

If you can afford it, get the HK. As someone else said, the customer service does not matter--with an HK, you won't need it.

Two entirely different classes of pistols from both an operational and aesthetics perspective.

HK will trounce any gLoCk, if you can appreciate the differences. If you can afford the HK, get it, if you can't, you can settle for a gLoCk, but there are better choices than the gLoCk. Look at the Walther PPQ if you can't afford the excellent P30. The grip on the P30 is simply the best out there today.

Edited to add that the grip angles between the two are very different. Make sure you can agree with the revolver like grip angle of the gLoCk.

im a 9mm guy not 40 but glock 19 is king and will always be my carry but that p30 grip is the best in the business i plan to get one but will probabaly go lem

I would take the HK, but I prefer a good DA/SA trigger over striker fired.

this is all it comes down to in terms of shoot-ability (well that and ergonomics).

i have a p30 and i had a Glock. they may both seem like "plastic guns" but the finish on the HK's polymer and metal parts is superb. really really nice. the p30 has a fantastic trigger and DA/SA transitions are seamless and quick.

the p30 also has probably the best ergos out there.

HK P30, more expensive (and refined) pistol, less expensive round to plink. For me, out of the box, there's no match between the two.

When I went looking for a 40 S&W, I wanted a DA/SA gun. At the time I didn't like anything about striker fired guns (now I have a Glock 19 and love it).

I really wanted a SIG P229, or an HK USP. I looked at the HK USP, HK P30 and the SIG P229. I loved the SIG, but I still thought it was overpriced. I kind of like the HK USP, although I wasn't fond of the slide release so far forward, and I am not a huge fan of the mag release. I didn't like anything about the P30 at all. I didn't like the slide stop, I didn't like the mag release and I absolutely hated the decocker. I still would like to get a USP, but I decided to get an FNP 40 for $200 less instead. Mine shoots great and has been trouble free. It does have the ding in the slide from the takedown lever but that is barely noticeable when assembled.

I believe the HK P30 is the finest handgun in it's class. There is no gun with better ergonomics or reliability. However, Glocks are great guns too and probably just as reliable. Both guns have great finishes but i would probably give the edge to HK. The biggest advantages of the Glock is higher available mag capacities and of course the price. The P30 has a wide variety of triggers available and unlike the Glock can be had in DA/SA. I've fired an HK P30 long slide and found it to be softer shooting and i was more accurate with it than Glocks but the differences were negligible. While HK customer service is probably not nearly as bad as people like to claim if it is lacking i'd attribute to very little practice given it's so rarely needed. Ultimately though if choosing between those two i'd go with the HK. My primary carry is a HK P2000sk in .40/.357 sig.

For what it's worth, I have the H&K P30 and I'm very happy with it. Accurate, soft shooting and never had a hick-up.
