Hmm, money burning a hole in my pocket, what to treat myself to?

I have about $150 that needs spending, and I want to put it into my shooting hobby, the question is, what to get?

1; reloading equipment for my 12-gauge, so I can recreate the Winchester WinLites for less than I can buy them for

2; a Black Powder rifle, there's a nice used H&R 209 based BP rifle in my gun shop for around $95, and I've been wanting to get into BP for a while

3; trade in my Mossberg 500 and use trade-in value+cash for a nice used Remington Wingmaster 12-gauge, problem is there's nothing wrong with my 500 and I'd get very little in trade for it

4; a better scope for my Ruger 10/22, I've been using the 10/22 the most of my .22 rifles, and it's currently got a Bushnell Sportview 4-12X AO that I'm not completely happy with, I'd trade the Sportview for store credit and use the cash for a better scope

You might consider a used MEC reloader for your shotshell hulls on GB or Ebay. Reloading your own will generate some more loose cash for other activities.

They didn't have any decent (affordable) used reloading gear, so I went with option 4, picked up a nice Bushnell Trophy 4-15x 40mm AO, *so* much sharper than my Sportview it's not even funny, on 12X the Sportview got a little soft, the Trophy is razor sharp even to 16X, and I still had enough left over for another brick of .22LR, so it's win-win

I felt the Sportview was holding back my potential due to the overall softness of the image, bear in mind, I've been going up in scope sharpness over time, the 10/22 started off with a Bushnell Rimfire, then it was upgraded to the slightly sharper but greater magnification Sportview, and now, it's sporting a nice, sharp Trophy with even more magnification, I've generally spent at least a year with each scope, trying to tweak out the most performance possible from them, if I can't see a visible improvement in that time, the scope is replaced

I'm still keeping an eye out for a decent used shotshell reloading press and that will most likely be my next purchase, I have to keep reminding myself of Clint Smith's mantra; "I don't need a new gun, I need to run the one I got"

I guess that's why my collection has always stayed small, I tend to put more stock into the Dave McCracken mantra of "BA/UU/R", nothing beats actual practice and experience

Sure, buying toys is more fun, but they won't improve your skillset, I'd rather be really good with a small set of guns than have a huge collection that I'm only mediocre with

It depends, with the multiple jennings guns you have backups of backups of backups of backups of....... (ad infinitum) ;)

wost case scenario, you have 10 single-shot pistols ;)

naah, in all seriousness, if limited to the two guns in the above post, it;s a given, Glock (and I'm not particularly a Glock fan)

I'm really glad I went with the Bushnell Trophy, in addition to the large zoom range and sharp optics, it has quick-set target turrets as well, and the AO focuses from 10 feet to infinity (And Beyond!) ;)
