Me and a couple of my friends who are not originally from the San Diego/ LA area would like to take advantage of the state land in CA available for hog hunting. We aren't really concerned with driving distance we just would like to know if any one has ever hunted Ca state land and where the best areas to go might be. We have the Ca hog hunting publication they put out but were wondering if anyone has personal experience they could share. Thanks

ugh yeah... it envoles 2 bow hunters a M1 and 30-06 failing to penatrate a bores head... I have never hunted so cal, but lots of places up in nor cal... lots of farmers will also let you hunt thier land as they are pests there.

Nor cal or So cal doesn't the drive doesn't matter we just don't want to be wasting our time in an scarcely hog populated area

In Central & Southern California you can find hogs in the Los Padres National Forrest. They tend to like Oak trees and can be found comming to and going from water.

California Valley, Carrizo Plains, about 50 miles west of Bakersfiled on BLM land. I've had periodic success there over the years, but I've had a lot of dry runs also. No big deal to me, as I'm only 50 miles away.
