I would like to start hunting wild hog here in Missouri. If anyone has any information on areas where they hunt and what they use I would appreciate it. Also if there are any land owners who would like a hand with their hog population feel free to PM me.

Same here. Call the MDOC, they let you hunt hogs in certain places.
A few years back a bunch of us were staying in cabins on Lake Wappapello when I ran in to several guys with horses, 4 wheelers, several Rhodesian Ridgebacks and plenty of firepower. They were from Arkansas and had gotten permission from the Missouri Dept. of Conservation to "kill as many as they could find". Man was I jealous..........

Wow, that sounds like a awesome weekend to me... I have read on MDOC website and they are still shoot on sight for hogs so I should be good to go. I'd like to get a little info from someone who has experience hunting them.

I believe the National Forest around Wappapelo has the largest population. It is not however on par with places like Texas. I've hunted there and had no success. You can see signs of hogs like places they have been rooting. I would suggest contacting the MDC office in Cape Girardeau or Poplar Bluff (if there is one) and ask some questions. You might also seek out advice from the US Forest Service.

By the way, it's probably been six years or so that I was down there.

Birdshooter, you are correct about Wappapelo, and about not having the numbers of Texas.......yet.
I read somewhere that the conservation dept. anticipates Texas like numbers in as little as 5-10 years, so they want 'em dead. Also, they ask that you bury, burn or take them with you if you kill one - or twenty.

Hog dogs

I have some puppies I think would make good pig dogs. The dad is Dane/ Mastiff and mom is Pit/ Rottie. Free to good homes interested parties PM me.
