I have a Mossberg 500 that I want to use as a HD shotgun. It had a pistol grip stock on it when I got it. I ditched that and got an ATI pistol grip buttstock that I don't like. It's too hard to manipulate the action bar with the pistol grip.

I am looking at the Hogue overmolded stock. Anyone have one? Recommend it? I am looking for an inexpensive buttstock and forearm. Are they hard to put on?

Cabela's seems to have the best price on the Hogues, by a long shot.

I've never put one on a gun, but I've checked out the Hogue stocks and they're good quality. If you've changed your stock, you should already know how easy/hard it is; I've never done it on a Mossberg.:)

I was considering one for duck hunting, but I figure that I'll just wait until the stock I already have gets wrecked.

Thanks, I'll check out Cabela's. Yeah I did change out the stock. I was more concerned about the forearm and the ease of changing that.

I have a set on an 870 here at casa del 9mm. They are really nice, far nicer than factory plastic IMHO. Good grip, even wet.
Never had a 500 but they were quite easy to install on my Express.

I will go so far to say that the Houge stock is the best tactical shottie stock out there. The short one is 1/2" too short without a raid vest and the standard one is an inch too long though:rolleyes: Hogue told me they can be cut down easily enough. I put a slip on small limbsavaver slip on over on my short one, wrapping it with OD tape and it is perfect for me now. Their matching forend is pretty good too, although I prefer the Surefire.

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and ordered a stock and a fore end. I think it will be what I need. It's got to beat what I have on there.
