What do you folks have for you M&P's?
I'm looking for a holster when I'm in the woods that will fit well on a belt.
I do not want in the waist band, or hide -a -way type.
Thanks all

Sounds like you want a OWB holster with some retention. A rig like this can be carried openly, or concealed with a cover garment. (I am unsure what you mean by "hide-a-way type.") I suggest something on the order of the Galco FLETCH, Don Hume H721, DeSantis Thumb Break Scabbard, El Paso Saddlery "Tortilla," etc.

What I mean is not concealed.
I would like a holster like a hunter, hunting rig. belt kind, outside the pants.
A thumb break would be great too.
Looking at different web sites and on-line stores I find all manner and type of concealed holsters, and holsters for Glocks, XD's, and such but none for my Smith.
Thanks for the reply Lone Haranguer.

That doesn't look like a very good holster for his purposes. It is an IWB, it looks rather flimsy, and there is no retention.

I would look for a OWB kydex or maybe even a GI holster with the flap. that would offer good retention yet protect your weapon so you don't scratch it up in the woods.

Here is one on ebay. Its only 26 bucks and I'm pretty sure it would fit an M&P. I have a fullsize and one of these holsters around here somewhere. I can check and see if it fits if you are interested.

I think I would want a little more retention (both of the gun in the holster and the holster on the belt) than that one, which appears to be a left-handed IWB.

If you will be pushing your way through underbrush, you might consider a full flap holster to keep the gun butt from being dinged and scratched up. El Paso can make one of those for you, too. I forgot to mention Simply Rugged. No personal experience, but they get rave reviews here.

For OWB, I really like my Blackhawk Serpa. It comes with both belt and paddle attachments, so you get to choose instead of being stuck with one. The retention is also nice, and if you use the paddle like I do, that gun is not coming out for sure unless you swipe your finger along the button when drawing.

Much thanks to all of you!
I am thinking of the serpa holster, just wanted leather, but that serpa seems to fit all of my needs.
Thanks again
