So ive advanced my search for a home defense shotgun. What im really looking for is a short barrelled ( 18.5-20" barrel) that is designed for 00 buck loads and slugs. Do you have any recommendations?

How's that gonna look bad in court, using the same 'riot gun' the cops do? ... Pick the most reliable platform that suits you best among the available choices, load it with something heavy enough to do the job (see the thread at http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=182404 for reasons) and shoot it until it is as familiar as a body part and you can hit what you shoot at.

it's a norinco copy of the 870.50caliber123 said:Has anyone heard of this? I got a catalog in the mail from Gander Mountain. They have this gun for $149.99 anyone know anything about it? I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but I want toknow some details without starting a whole new thread.
My HD shotgun is very similar, an 870 Wingmaster Magnum duck gun with original wood and a 20" RS IC barrel. The barrel was sold as a slug barrel although it's a smooth bore and I've never shot slugs. I recently added a Wilson Combat one round extension which was unnecessary. I may revert back to the standard mag configuration, without the plug. BTW, mine's parkerized, will that get me convicted?Actually, Deer Hunter has a point: to the average jury member, an Evil Black Assault Shotgun with all the trimmings looks a whole lot more "dangerous" than a wood-stocked hunting shotgun. A double might look even more innocent than a pump. This is one reason why my HD shotguns still have their wood stocks and fore-ends, albeit with an extended magazine tube (which looks fairly innocuous in the absence of all the other uber-tactical stuff). They are Remington 870's with the 20" IC rifle-sighted barrel, which will pattern buckshot nicely into 8" at my maximum "in-house" range. With half-a-dozen rounds ready to go, I daresay I could argue to my complete satisfaction with any intruder, and still look like a "good ol' boy" to local jury members if need be.
Ladies and Gennulmen, my $0.02....
Any US made pump is a weapon of great capability, dependability and power suitable for CQB in trained hands.
Get a US made pump, shoot it until it feels like a body part and not a tool. Voila! You and your shotgun are much more likely to resolve crises.
While I prefer the 870, if armed with a 500, 37, 1300 et al, I'm still effective.
