Jeez I'm annoyed. I recently was able to get a really great rate on Car insurance from Amica Insurance or Rode Island.

Since they offered me such great numbers for my car, I was hoping that I could get coverage for the home that my fiancé and I are trying to buy.

NOT!!!!:cuss:

I just got a phone call from the local office saying that since I own firearms they will be unable/unwilling to offer me coverage because of "Liability Issues":scrutiny: They claim that not only would they have to cover their value if stolen/lost they claim that I'm responsible for their use if stolen.
(*cough..cough..bull????...cough....cough*)

Anybody know of any good Insurance companies that do not discriminate against gun owners?

I'll need both automotive and Homeowners

Note the name AMICA .... Good rates lousy politics

Check with other agents of Amica. It might just be the agent.

The same goes for other insurance companies.
If your area in typical anti-gun, you may have a problem.

You can always get seperate insurance to cover the guns.

Yes.

I believe that Erie Insurance writes in Rhode Island.

I've been with them on my home for 10 years, and my cars for 15.

Very happy with them, very happy with the rates.

State Farm tried to poach me a couple of years ago.

Their "great rates" were nearly twice what I'm paying with Erie.

To Claify Some points

I'm not in RI, I'm in Orlando Fl, hardly an Anti-gun region. When I asked as to why AMICA refused me, the agent said that this is a Corp. policy that has been in place all of the 17 years she has been with them.

Amica is know for being VERY choosy with whom they cover thus keeping their rates down. I confirmed this when speaking to another agent here at the Orlando Office and she explained that its the number of Firearms of my collection not mearly the fact that I own a gun. Thats well and good $$ wise, but I refuse to compromise on this issue.

I guess I am one of those "arsenal" owners (all of 7 firearms, 3 rifles, 4 pistols,..... ooooooh scarewy)

What set my bells off was when she tried to insinuate that I am lible for criminal acts made ith my firearms if they are stolen from me. Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't there been a few court cases that say exactly the oposite?

Mike: does Erie Insurance Co write in Fl? I was thinking of State Farm and I am familier with their rates and 1/2 of that is a good deal

I am guessing she meant that you're on your own if someone sues you because your guns were stolen and used in a crime. So any legal coverage that is a part of your policy doesn't cover that case. Granted you shouldn't be held liable for that in court, but you would still need a lawyer to say that in court. Its not like our court system really works properly...

Just went through this!!!!!

After 9 yrs with State Farm on both, I am now with AAA.
After a tip from a corp. employee earlier this year about an upcoming and VERY competitive NEW policy they were to roll out, I was excited. AAA has NEVER been competitive for homeowners and were taking a giant leap.
Well, it worked. Been with them almost two months so far; no difficulties.
(Reminds me to call her again; syt)
Better rates, better coverage.
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!!

I recently cut my car insurance bill in half by switching to American Family. I figured I'd switch my house insurance while I was at it, only to discover I couldn't get additional coverage for my firearms without providing makes, models, and serial numbers.

Do I look like I want to register my guns?
