Homeless Voice - Panhandlers - Fort Lauderdale Intersections

Maquina, I can understand getting loud with some (not all) of the Drag Rats that hang around campus and are clearly young and healthy enough to support themselves (not to mention the dogs they all seem to have now), but not the drifters, homeless 'Nam vets, or single mothers along IH35. If I don't want to give (and I don't, though I do support a number of registered charities), then I just don't make eye contact and shake my head.

But what's with the churches -- and even kids' sports teams! -- panhandling for extra money?

and some bum on the side of the road begging for beer money.

Ives Dairy Rd exit off of 95 has bunch of professional dead beat bums.
One BUM has a sign that reads. "I'll be honest with you...I need money for beer".

Women in my office say they drive through red lights to get away from aggressive panhandlers who approach their cars when they're stopped at intersections. The cops here hardly enforce panhandling violations at all and as a result the bums control the sidewalks.

Eric.cartman, I see these people all over Miramar and parts of Broward county and to be honest, it makes the city look horrible. Not only do they get upset when you dont donate or buy something but they arent afraid to show it..
Its been bothering me for a while to see all kinds of people selling stuff on the corners. Theres one guy selling fish, another guy selling water, another kid that plays football for some school but has no uniform or school tshirt on, and the Homeless Voice guy...in the same intersection! God forbid its mothers day....you would have to deal with the FLower lady also.

I was a bum for a minute!

My Wife and I spent a fantastic week in Chicago, stayed with friends, one day out in downtown, The Magnificent Mile, great. We took a Taxi to the end, and walked back, a Cop every ten feet!

Parked in underground parking, we were nice summer style dressed, I was ahead, complete with City Stick, no carry in Obama Ville, I opened the door for we 4, held it again for the 4 coming in, middle aged, long pants, golf shirts on the two males.

The last one through said "Thank you" I said "Door opening is not free you know" he turned two frightened blue eyes in my general direction, and said in a command tone "NO_NO" and scuttled on his way, I broke up!

He must have been to a class.

Haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if this has been covered.The Homeless Voice beggars are not homeless or starving.They live in homeless shelters near me in Hollywood.

I am a traffic signal tech employed by Broward county.We receive many trouble calls at Oakland and 31st as well as Sunrise and 31st (from Ft.Lauderdale PD no less) complaining of left turns short cycling.The signals and detection always working fine.Just one of these nimrods impeding traffic flow and grinding everything to a complete halt.So we have to call PD back and they remove the obstruction from the intersection.I guess PD just don't notice these merry pranksters cavorting in the roadway?
