Well It's a homemade copy of an AO mount. The main body is a 3/4" steel water pipe, about 5" long, a set (2) Weaver model 18A scope mounts, Weaver low rings, and a BSA pistol scope. I put the rings on the scope, placed the mounts in the rings and positioned everything so they fit level on the pipe. I degreased the mounts and the pipe, placed a couple of drops of acra-glass under each mount. And rubber banded the mounts ( with the rings and scope attatched to keep every thing lined up ) to the pipe. A day later I removed the scope and rings , drilled and tapped the pipe right through the mount holes. Then acra-glassed the screws in place. Then sand the barrel ( from the chamber to about 5" forward ) and the inside of the pipe with 80 grit sandpaper. I then locked the barreled action in a vice ( setting level ) reinstalled the rings and scope. Placed acra-glass gel around the rear of the pipe, and slid it over the barrel until it mated with the front of the chamber. Then bore sighted THE MOUNT! with shims at the front. Looking through the barrel at a distant object and aligning the scope mount assy until it was level and the crosshairs were centered on that object. You have about 20 min. for the glas to start setting up so you do have time. The next day stand the rifle upright and fill the inside of the mount with acra-glass. And thats it! I do suppose you could use an alum. pipe of a piece of elec. conduit instead of the steel pipe, Maybe a little lighter. Or swap JB weld for the acra-glass. But I did not want this thing to move.. So far ( About 500rds ) so good. And if you don't like it or want to change things back... Cut the pipe in sections, apply a propane torch and remove the pipe. sand off the epoxy and reblue. Let me know if any of you try it. I love the way mine turned out

Most impressive brianc. VERY innovative. I have heard of "shadetree mechanics" with respect to cars, are there "shadetree gunsmiths" as well?
(and I mean that as a compliment.)

No offence taken... On either comment! I am an auto mechaic and I do have a fair number of people that have me work on thier guns. Since I do not have a gun shop.. The shadetree name does work for me! Thanks for the comment! BrianC
