Honestly, any REAL reason to not buy an H&R 12g pump?

Sorry to beat this dead horse but I did a search and the engine doesn't like "H&R" or "pump" all that much.

I've been on the lookout for a 12g for extremely limited amounts ofrabbit hunting and clay birds on the family property. When I say extremely limited, I mean about a box a year. Seriously.

So, I got an ad from cabelas yesterday touting an H&R 12g 28" pump for $169. Is it the same as the NEF pardner? Should I go pick it up?

And please, PLEASE keep the "supporting the red army" "Chinese knockoff", "save yourmoney and get a real 870" comments out of this. I just want to know about THIS shotgun please.

I'm all for buying the Chinese clones. One less gun in China can't be a bad thing, can it? :)

If you only shoot a box a year why not just get the break action.I have handled the pardner pump and it's clunky to say the least if you are looking at a gun to pull double duty HD/hunting the pump should do what you want but as your aware their are better choices out there.Really it depends more on what you like and how the gun fits you mine shoots whatever I feed it and patterns well with number 6 remingtons but mine is a 20 ga.

I've been shooting one for waterfowl for the past 5 years with zero issues. Its been used an oar, sledge hammer to break-up ice and even spent some time on the bottom of the river. Its built like a tank and is better than the current 870's IMHO.

I bought one for my son over the weekend (he's 13) and we shot yesterday and it appears to be a fine gun. We went through 3 boxes of shells and it only had 2 hiccups within the first 2 boxes, then it cycled cleanly. The only thing I could say is that the kick on it was sharper than what I experience with my Beretta 3901.

Sorry, I missed the part about it being the pump gun. I got the Excell Auto...
