Just supplied our local Boy Scout camp with 15 of the the very affordable youth sized Savage MkI-FVT target rifles.

After one week's use, staff is thrilled with them. Many more boys are getting their Rifle Merit Badges completed with these, vs. the hodge-podge of rifle sighted .22 clunkers they had previously.

At $212 shipped, this is not only the best youth rifle deal out there, they are quality, basic peep sighted rifles too, suitable for most youth shooters.

THANK YOU to CMP and Savage for making these available!!!!!!!

thats great was this a donation or did the camp have to buy them?

i remember trying to get mine i can shoot a 1inch group with my .30-30 at 50 yards. and smaller with my browning .22 but got for the life of me i couldnt shoot a decent group at the 20 yards or what ever it was

we had some old remington single shot bolt action with the worst sights i have ever used lol i remember i had 1 on one of my turns at the fireing line that didnt have a front sight then they replaced that one with another that had the sight soldered on

I know a lot of people on here badmouth Savage, since their dads and uncles didn't shoot them, but no other company is doing what they do to bring in new shooters, and cater to competitive shooters.

skinewmexico: Excellent point on Savage. Savage has increased it's presence in competitive shooting in recent years, including sponsorship of the under-25 US Palma team, as well as making more rifles oriented towards competitive shooting (F-Class, Palma).

I just picked up one of the youth models to get the kids started. I like the availability of a larger stock for when they get bigger. I paid $135 dollars out the door because my dealer picked them up in a large lot to equip a local youth shooting club. Good deal, nice rifle, I like the rear peep sight as well, hopefully it shoots as good as it seems to be. Bill

And I will add that very few of us shooters are doing what we should to bring in young shooters. Other than our children. Sometimes.
