I loaded up several of my :D free:D Hornady 230 grain xtp/hp bullets tonight. I set the overall length to about 1.255" according to my manuals. None of them listed the 230 gr xtps so I went off the 230 gr. jacketed data. They showed 1.250 in my Lee manual and 1.275 on the dimension picture. Isn't the OAL given at the right of the table a minimum OAL?

I went to load up a 1911 mag and they were getting stuck. The nose of the bullet was rubbing the front wall of the mag. Someone on 1911 forum recommended going with an OAL of 1.23" Does that sound good? I set some back to 1.45" and they seemed to feed into the mag okay but I'm wondering if I should still go a little shorter. What am I risking by going to short? I mean within reason, not 1.1" or something like that. Thanks for any input.
