Hornady standing up against New York

I’m not biased towards any brands. My first criteria is value. So I’m always looking for the best quality product for the lowest cost. Now that doesn’t mean the cheapest one, but what I think is the best made that has a good price. Anyway, after quality and price, other factors come into consideration.
That's mostly true for me, too, but I do take some other factors into consideration. For example, two of the reasons that I carry Golden Sabers are that: (1) local LEOs all carry them; and (2) there's a Remington plant in my state, about 40 miles from here.

Incidentally and... totally :cool:unrelated,

Grafs has a promo right now, buy $100 of Hornady products & get a Hornady logo tri-point lock box free. Metal pistol lock box, cable, like what you could use to cable lock up a pistol in your vehicle

Hornady makes fine products and as a reloader, it gives me more incentive to buy from them than other brands. The Hornady family has been a consistent and steadfast supporter of the 2nd Amendment.

I wonder what percentage of guns and ammunition goes to state and local governments. The cops don't practice much, and there aren't that many of them. Maybe cutting off oppressive states and cities isn't that costly to manufacturers.

I hope that it is not. I am a Hornady fan, unapologetically so. Maybe not so overtly as @DRAINSMITH, but every bit as fervently.:)

I have no issue with not doing business with bullies. I am glad Hornady (and Springfield) has none either.

We should contact them and let them we appreciate this.
I’m going to call and email tomorrow when I have a few minutes.
Very astute. We need to let them know we are behind them. I saw Steve Hornady at the NRA annual convention yesterday--I wish I had seen this thread before then so I could have mentioned it to him in person.

It's also important to support them with purchases. Ultimately they aren't in business for warm fuzzies/social media likes, they're in business to make money.

I wish more companies would take this kind of stand, and I really hope that when one does, the gun community amply rewards them.

The bullet I reload most frequently for my .357 is the 158 gr. XTPs. It appears I need to restock ASAP.

Just was debating what round to start loading my mag, was considering the XTP (which I like in 10mm) and this decides it.

Also probably will pick up some more z or v maxes for my .300 BLK while I'm at it.

Looks like my next order of stuff will be all Hornady.
I already use Hornady bullets almost exclusively, and some Hornady tools and cases, at this point ill switch everything I would buy from another Major to Hornady if I can.

I've been a fan of Hornady's ammo since I first started shooting. It's not all perfect, and I wish they would get into the monolithic arena, but I do buy their bullets, and have a lot of their loaded ammo sitting around. Glad they are continuing to stand up for themselves and their customers.

New York gives me the heebee jeebees. I saw New York City while waiting for a flight in Jersey. I have literally NO desire to ever go there. Upstate I'd like to see, but New York City is an abomination. No animal, including humans, is meant to live that way.

If you like that bullet, here's the rest of the "recipe". I used mixed brass, both new and previously fired, "small magnum" primers (CCI 550 & others), and a near maximum charge of Winchester 296 powder. I keep it 0.1 grain below the max charge in the book. Makes a fair fireball from the 4" revolver but nothing really noticeable from the Marlin 1894 lever-action rifle. And, with that near-max charge, it provides plenty of "kinetic energy" for the target. :D

I carry all Hornady Critical Defense in all my CCW weapons as well as my wife, BTW that includes .380, 9mm, 40S&W, and my .45acp. not to mention 90% of all my reloads are of the Hornady brand, the only exception to that is my cast bullets that I cast myself.

I agree with the NYC part. I have a TON of family down there ,as my mom is from Brooklyn but moved up around Albany in her early teens. NYC is a cesspool. The only good thing there is the natural history museum (friggin awesome) and fresh kanishes. I took the train down there around Christmas with my gf a few years back and it was hell on Earth with the amount of people in times square and by the tree. Never again will I go down there unless someone in the family dies,or if I have kids to see the meseum and statuen of liberty.

As for upstate there's not much to see untill you hit the Adirondack park. Hiking some of the high peaks is pretty cool, but it's a boring State other than that lol.I have yet to venture to the northern and north western parts along he St Lawrence and great lakes. Also NY don't support any other states ccw, which is a bummer.

This is a great start. Now all of the gun companies, other ammo companies and anything else gun related should follow suit and also do the same for CA, MD, MA, IL, DC.

Imagine if police departments in the anti gun states couldn't buy guns, ammo and supplies.
Well, there would be two very easy solutions; 1. Make the cops buy their own guns, as used to be the norm, or 2. Use military weapons and ammo. Does anybody really want that? Granted, they already do in some cases. Lots of PD's have M16A1's and MP-5's given to them by the fed, for SWAT and or riot control. Most sit in arms rooms gathering dust as depts. usually use M-4 type guns they buy.

I've bought Hornady components for years, and will continue to do so.

Really, it's time for NYC bashing again? NYS is boring? I guess you've never been to the LI beaches, some of the finest, or climbed at New Paltz, seen Niagara Falls, gone fishing in the Atlantic, enjoyed Broadway shows, been to the Met, or any of the other great places in NY. Can't take crowds, stay away, but to call other people's home a cesspool is just wrong.

As far as police sales, last figure I was able to find was in 2008 there were 765K full time, plus 45K part time sworn officers. If they only shot 5 boxes a year each that's over 4 million boxes a year.
