Hornady Z-max bullets

It's a novelty, for fun. Of course, if you don't find it amusing, don't buy any, but it's not offensive.

And if you don't like this, don't ever visit the Zombie Squad forums :D

(You can actually find a lot of good prep discussion there, and the "zombie" angle helps keep it from getting too political or tin-foil-hattish, unlike a lot of prep sites.)

Personally I think people need to lighten up. I bought a box of the Z-max because it's a novelty thing and I think its pretty neat. Who knows, it might be a collectible thing one day.

Next year, will it will be real silver bullets for werewolves?
And wooden bullet ammo for Vampires?

The head of Hornady has already said that there will be no ammo made for werewolves, and vampires becuse as we all know they don't exist.

Not any more over the top than a honda civic drifting around corners in their commercials

I just figure that somebody at Hornady with a warped sense of humor--like mine--said, "Hey, how about this idea?" and away they went.

Fun marketing ploy in the midst of all this modern-day angst. So, shoot the ammo and save the box for giggles. Heck, get a small shadow box for it and hang it on the wall. :D

Again pretty much all the "Zombie" people I know point to videos on youtube a proof. I think that's what hornady was poking fun at with that video, its supposed to be over the top.

The fact that you are talking about it is exactly why they are making them. Obviously nobody at Honrady is serious about it. But it makes great marketing. Shows like The Walking Dead are very popular and the ammo came out around Halloween. It isn't like they actually developed a new round either. They took their standard rounds and put a green tip on it instead of orange. Then made a new box. Marketing success 101 right there!!

Heck I even have a couple boxes. Not because I care about Zombies but because my LGS was out of 9mm Critical defense but had some of this. Same exact stuff so who cares.

It's funny! That's all! And great marketing, and I'm probably going to buy some just because it's funny.

Exactly.

It's still perfectly good ammunition that's no more expensive than their other premium stuff.

I'm gonna buy a couple boxes just because. And that's two boxes of Hornady factory ammo I wouldn't buy otherwise; I'd say it's marketing genious!

Need some 38 special Zombie ammo. 140 or 158 grain.
If Hornady is listening.

I need a box.....and...........I am 67.........I don't wear my shorts too tight......chris3

You are showing your age if you think the zombie thing is from the movies. Think X-box, Resident Evil... these are your young men coming of age.

Aside from that I am not surprised to see this coming from Hornady. This is the same company that thinks it's too time consuming to screw a die into a press.

Also their reloading data is junk to me. They extrapolate data to get to a certain max pressure rather than actually testing each load to max. That leaves at least 100 fps on the table quite often. Compare their current data to the other manufacturer's and even their own older books to see what I mean. I don't trust it.

Yes its a marketing thing. If you didnt run out and buy it than it didnt work on you, witch not all marketing stratigies work on everyone. However in the stragety they have taken, there are a number of ppl in this world that actualy think an apocolips is soon to come. Well just for making fun of such acusations hornady took advantage of that concern by using it as a tool for marketing, one for the humaring of those of us that know better, and yes boost sales and bring in new buiseness. The z max ammo is loaded with no more than the same bullet that the a max and v max bullets are just a green tip instead of red. I bought a couple boxes of the 223 z max, when compaiared to the 223 superformance box you will find the bullet tips vmax red and zmax green. The balistic chart on both boxes read the same. And upon inspection at cabelas where i found the zmax ammo i also noticed in the pistol ammo, that in the pd,and or balistic tip style they had done the same thing. Its all for humar and marketing. There only doing it for a short period and no more ever again. Just like we all see on ebay the old antiqe empty boxes for sale some one colects them. In 20 or30 years these zmax ammo boxes will be a collector item, worth more with the ammo still in them.

I'd like to get my hands on some in 30-30 just for fun however I can't seem to find any on shelves so for the time being I'll pick up some in 45ACP.

"Think X-box, Resident Evil... these are your young men coming of age."

Can't be any worse then the hippy trash that came to age in the 60's and are currently destroying the fabric of this country.

Seems like I remember seeing Daisy air rifle ads with a boy, a BB gun, and a wolf or something.

I'm pretty sure that was just fun marketing too, surely Daisy didn't expect me to shoot a wolf with my rifle?

It's just for fun folks, relax :)

I, find the zombie people no more silly then the cowboy people, or the people who ware sport clothes even though they would drop dead if they tried to do a 5 minute work out with real profession sport athletes.

ahh I love it...

I think it is a refreshing breath of air to see a company show they still have a "fun" side.

I almost bought a box of it yesterday but the guys at the lgs wrote the price on the box with a marker. I told them next shippment to keep me a few out without the writing.
:

Also thinks its brilliant will be buying some myself.
Great Marketing.
And just in case - image if you DON'T have Zombie ammo and wake up from a comma in the Zombie Apoc.. (Walking Dead Ref).

Its creative marketing, and its a brilliant move. Released just before holiday gift buying, I know alot of people who bought this as a gag gift for Christmas, or just bought a box to keep as a collector item or coffee table/gun room conversation piece.

This to me is more creative then the commemorative re-release ammo with the throwback ole timey box.

We all know zombies arent real, I am waiting for another company to copy this and come out with Werewolf "silver" ammo or Vampire Slayer rounds.
