I don't think I've seen an AR pic thread in awhile. I took some pics during my last range trip and thought I'd share.

Let's see yours!

An early pic of a now completed project. The barrel was off because it was out getting a 1/2x28 thread put on it. This was a Clinton/Reno ban gun.

My Bushy M4gery w/ Aim Point

And my RRA 9mm A4. I added a Burris XTR-135 Red Dot and a ARMS 40L flip up rear sight.

Here's my Colt lower with DPMS 11.5" upper, EOTech 551, and Fobus M44 rail. I had taken my SF M900 off, to put on another rifle that day.

And here's the other rifle, although it's not really an AR, it's actually an M-16 (ya gotta love the fun switch).

That's a very uninspiring photo of my Colt Sporter HBAR Lightweight circa 1993. 16" barrel, 1 in 7 twist. Aimpoint Comp ML2. I guess I'll have to take a real photo of it sometime.

Is "HBAR Lightweight" like "jumbo shrimp?"

Yeah. No kidding. Leave it to Colt with the weird naming conventions. But with the thousands of rounds I've put through it in the 12 years I've had it, not one malfunction, ever. I'm probably mistaken, and it's just considered a Colt Sporter Lightweight, but I believe the barrel is heavy contour. I'm positive it's a 1:7 chrome lined barrel, though.

Right before 01/01/2000, there was a rush on ARs and other rifles that were to be banned. With all the sales, I'm surprised I don't see more at the range. I guess all those evil pistol grip, magazine fed rifles were sold to not-so-avid shooters.

Only change since that pic is a rail mounted sling and MagPul trigger guard.

You need to toss a 1911 in that pic for period tacticoolness!

Ditto. Milspec 1911 only, though. No stainless steel, Novak sight, IPSC tuned 1911s allowed in that picture.

That's not a heavy barrel, it's a light barrel, i.e. same contour as on an M-16A1, just shorter. Look at the barrel on my Colt AR-15A3, which is a heavy. Yours has a chromed bore and chamber though I don't know offhand the twist. The easy way to measure is take a cleaning rod with a patch on it and put it in the bore via the muzzle. Put a dot on the rod with a Sharpie just above the muzzle and withdraw the rod from the muzzle until the dot makes one full rotation. Measue the how far the dot is from the muzzle and that's your twist rate.

Yeah, I double checked the references and the Sporter Lightweight came with a standard contour barrel.

No need to do the cleaning rod trick. It is a 1:7 twist. I know it for a fact.

I wish I had one to do so. I could throw my .45 in there, but I wouldn't want to offrend Gen. Patton.
They're ivory. Only a pimp from a cheap New Orleans whorehouse would carry a pearl-handled pistol.
BTW, I catch Hell every time I take my "pimp pistol" to the range with my brother in law. It really did fall out of the redwood ugly tree, but it works.

M4 barrel, TA31 RCO-M4 scope

Superlightweight barrel
M4_RDIAS_host.sized.jpg

RDIAS host, 14.5" barrel, Larue foreend, Magpul stock

I've either built them myself, or modified them so much from their previous post-ban config that I might as well have built them myself.

On a little side note, does anyone know if their are any real differences between an RRA tactical entry and their tactical car4? oh yeah and has anyone had feeding problems using cheap ammo through their RRA. oh yeah and are their any advantages to the R4 barrel
