Lets see some pics of your deer rifle. Not every deer type gun you own. Jut the one you reach for when you're hungry for venison.

Here's my contribution. A Weatherby Vangard in a Bell&Carlson stock sporting a illuminated scope in 300WBY mag.

Here's my '75 vintage Marlin 336 30-30 with Leupold Alaskan 4X scope. It's very similar to the one I shot my first deer with. Alas, that one's long gone.

Don't have any pics of the gun alone, so here's me and my primary deer rifle.

7400.jpg

Remington 7400 Weathermaster (nickel-plated) in .30-06. Came with a synthetic stock, but I didn't like the feel of it so I swapped it out for some wood furniture. Shoots straight, shoots quick, and hits hard. Cheap enough to abuse, and tough enough to take it.

I also hunt deer with a BAR in .300WinMag and a Remington Model 81 in .300 Savage, but those are my special-use guns. The 7400 is what I carry about 80% of the time.

'Card, that is a slick looking rifle. I really wish you had a closer shot.

although it hasn't been out deer hunting yet, of the 2 (non-milsurp) deer rifles I have, this is the one I plan to use next year.

Here's my two favorites...A remington Model 700 in .243 with a Leupold Rifleman 3x9x40, and a Browning A-Bolt Hunter II in 7mm WSM with a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x50. There are a few others, but these were the only two that left the safe this year.

Those R1's are sweet. I've been seriously looking at one in .30-06, but Remington's new Model 750 Woodsmasters are pretty sweet too. Kind of torn between the two.

I will try to figure out how to get my pic up on the boards, meanwhile my DREAM deer rifle, which I have, is a Finnlight in 6.5 X 55 with a Leupold Vx-II ultralight silver scope....

accurate...light...weather proof...and BEAUTIFUL

(I wonder if this can be done just using a cell phone camera)

Rembrandt

That's a nice Colt Sauer. I had one some time ago, chambered for the 300 Weatherby Magnum. It had a beautiful stock on it. The grain was beautiful. I remember, it was made by J.P.Sauer & Sohn. Those were the guys that, one time made Weatherby rifles, before they went to Japan. No open sights. Just tapped for scope mount. Nice smooth action. Rear locking lugs. The only thing I wish, they made a left handed version. I'm a left handed shooter. But, I still had to get one. Those things go for some big bucks now. When it first came out the price on it was $400/$500 dollars. I think they also made a short action version as well, for cartridges like the .243 ?

I'll take #25.

Deer rifle is on top: Marlin 336A in .30-30.
(Brand new; has yet to take a deer.
I'll put a Leupold scout scope on it.)

Deer shotgun is just below the 336; it's an 870.
(Load it with slugs, it's quite capable.)

Deer revolver is on the bottom.
(SW 686 4" in .357 mag.)

All are shorter range, in the tradition of hunters
that stalked their prey to less than 75 m
rather than shooting from 200 m ...
