bad shoot He could have been lost, he could have been drunk and lost, he could have meant no harm. I dont know what state you live in, but in all that I know of trespassing is no longer punishable by deadly force.

Your friend should have stayed in the house locked the doors and only shot if the guy had broken in, otherwise there was no threat to life or limb.

Bad bad decision to shoot IMO.

You would be amazed how fast someone can "crank off" 5 rounds in a shotgun. Some of you from rural areas seem to understand about the situation while some of you are playing a little armchair commando. I appreciate all of the constructive criticism that was received and will pass it along the next time I see him.

Having been both a soldier and a Sheriff's Deputy, and having qualified with a number of small arms - including a shotgun - I think I have a pretty good grasp of how quickly 5 rounds of 12 ga. can be fired from either an auto-loader or a pump gun.
