How did the 168 grain .308 come about?

The Remington 700 based rifle he used is still on display at the US Olympic Center in Colorado Springs.

200 grain bullets?! EEK!

They got a picture of the black and blue marks on his shoulder? That should be on display too.

SlamFire1, no, Wigger's got no black and blue marks on his shoulder. But maybe a few on his butt from me kicking his ass a time or two shooting smallbore prone matches.

His 13-pound rifle didn't recoil that much anyway. I've shot as many as twenty-eight 200 grain bullets from my .30-.338 Win. Mag. in prone matches and not a mark of any color on my shoulder with about 50% more recoil than his '06 had. If you use an on-line web site that has a recoil calculator,

http://kwk.us/recoil.html

you can see how many foot-pounds of recoil there is. Figure what a 200 grain bullet from a .30-06 with 56 grains of powder at 2600 fps and from a .30-.338 at 2950 fps with 65 grains is for 13 pound rifles.
