Both of my carry guns (Kahr CW40 and KT P3AT) are used exclusively IWB, and since both are so slim, it is no problem. However, when I try to carry a fatter gun like my Ruger P95dc, I just can't stand IWB. Maybe there just isn't enough room in that waist line, but it just rubs me the wrong way. Now I am thinking of getting a 'fat' carry gun in 9mm, probably something along the lines of a CZ Rami, or P-01. How can I comfortably carry one of these? I carry at school, so accidentally flashing the gun would be a very disruptive no-no, so that makes me wary of a regular belt holster covered with my shirt but I don't see any other options.

I carry a revolver (642) IWB fairly often. There seem to be two keys to success with wide guns IWB-- a comfortable holster and larger pants.

If you can do layers I'd recommend a shoulder holster, if not I think you may have to settle for backpack or messenger bag carry. Might not be the fastest to bring into action, but better than nothing.

If you don't need a reinforced mouth on the IWB holster, you can get much thinner model that will help compensate for the bulkiness of the gun. For an example, look at the Watch Six from Milt Sparks.

in a bag. :D

... or srsly, in some looser pants so you got more room IWB. when i carried a "fatter" to me XD-9 subcompact, i canted it foward maybe 30 degrees which helped a lot. but then again, my body type might be different. i've got padding, so it kind of gets absorbed in my side if you know what i mean. :uhoh: :D

I never likd iwb....I pocket carry a 642,or belt carry anything else..I wear loose shirts and sometimes a vest...dress around the gun if you can.I also wear suspenders to avoid the whole hiking up my pants every 2 seconds.

I regularly carry my M&P 9C which is a fat gun in my opinion. The key is to have pants that allow enough room to allow you to comfortably fit it IWB and a THIN holster. I use a Comp-Tac C-Tac holster. It adds hardly any thickness to the weapon and is very comfortable. Other than that I would recommend any holster that has the belt loops outboard of the bulk of the weapon. It not only provides less bulk but it also more stability so it doesn't shift around.

Another plus of the C-Tac is that it is adjustable for cant and depth so I can adjust how the weapon carries for maximum concealment and accessibility. I regularly carry this rig under just a t-shirt.

The CW40 sounds like it would be ideal for the purpose you are carrying for. A good IWB holster and a few spare mags and I would think that would be a very effective setup.

get fat pants

+1 on the fat pants(even if it was meant to be a joke)...and belt. You will need a little more room in the waistline in your pants and belt. You might need to move up a pants size.

If you go with a lower riding holster it will also be more concealable.

Why, by the way, do you feel the Kahr isn't sufficient? If it works for you, you should stick with it.
