How do you carry your CCW permit?

Are you also carrying a smartphone while walking? You can get covers (cases) now for most any model that include a couple of slots for ID and/or CC.

My cell phone is ancient, so I doubt that anyone makes a case for it anymore. A family member is looking at upgrading their iphone though so if they do I might be able to get their iphone 5. I just can't bring myself to spend hundreds of dollars on a new phone when the one I've got works just fine. I know I'm cheap, but I'm to that point in my life when I just don't care about such things anymore. I would rather spend the money on beer, beef jerky, and bullets.

I've found the plan phones are extremely expensive. I shop elsewhere, bought a Samsung smart phone for $11 and buy minutes for $19 every 90 days. I did stop using the protector cases as they double the weight and do little to improve things.

As for a wallet I'm using a card case now. In the military there were inexpensive clear bifold wallets which we expediently strung over a ball chain for ID during exercises. Since it used hook and loop to stay closed it wouldn't come off and we were spared the expense of a $15 corporate or "tactical" neck wallet we'd never use again. I still have that wallet but the double stitching and web reinforcement around the edge is testimony to over engineering, it adds 40% to the size. When you really start looking at what is needed with a minimalist eye, normal department store wallets are like two ton hay trucks in commuter traffic.

Not that there's anything wrong with a two ton hay truck in commuter traffic, size means something.

Funny... when I worked my part-time pizza delivery gig one night a week, that's almost exactly what I told people the money was for.. in my case, it was beer, burgers, and bullets, the "Triple-B".

I've got one of those Tyvek envelopes from my bank that will hold a debit card, credit card, drivers license & carry license. All four cards fit snugly, but are easy to remove. So, when walking my GSD like the OP, I carry that, a BodyGuard 380, one extra mag, Gerber Auto06, and if at night, an LED flashlight. We cover five miles, but I wear 3-pocket shorts. Kinda the minimum in todays climate.

I use a Galco belly band for my gun if my athletic shorts won't hold it up (cat likes to eat my drawstrings) so my card case, little box with ID, CPL, VISA, goes in that or my left pocket.

I only wear gym shorts in the gym.
Otherwise my permit is next to my DL in my wallet which I have unless I'm wearing gym shorts. In which case my wallet, and firearm are secured.

In Va we don't have a duty to inform, but it's also a good practice to simply had an officer your DL and permit. Keep your hands in their line of sight and let them see you're a good guy or gal. Doing so, helps them have a chance to assess you and to relax a little. My interactions have always been pleasant doing so. (Pulled over for a broken tail light from a parking lot hit and run I didn't know about, and another time as a witness to a situation).

I normally don't.

But then, I don't normally carry either.

And when I go out of state, I pack my guns in locked cases just like someone who doesn't have a CCW.

Well, it's finally cooled off here. Fall has come early this year.

And for now I will continue to use the neck wallet even though I no longer have to (the weather is cool enough now to open up sturdier wardrobe options). I really like the ability to be able to show the permit without reaching into pockets.

You could get a minimalist wallet that's basically a card holder. Works for a driver's license, CCW permit, credit card or two, and maybe $50 in cash easy.

For my daily walks in the neighborhood parks I have downloaded photographs of my carry permit from three states as well as my drivers license and passport on the phone that is always in my pocket along with a Ruger LCPII in a wallet holster. I don't want to suggest this is legal but it makes me comfortable while in my own neighborhood.

I never carry a wallet. My CCW permit is one of the few cards that makes the cut as one of the items in my moneyclip.

As a senior staff member of an elected county official with disaster response duties I am issued a badge case and badge with a window for my emergency services ID card. I keep my CCW permit behind it on the theory that if ever asked to produce it it cannot hurt for the officer to see the other ID material at the same time. My staff badge number is 008 so we joke that I am licensed to wound only.

My permit resides in my strong weak side wallet, in a plastic window just behind my driver's license. If an officer wants to see it, I will describe the location as, "In my wallet, strong left side, near opposite my pistol, what do you want me to do?" If the officer is comfortable with me retrieving it, fine. If he or she wants to retrieve it, my hands will go on top of my head, with my fingers interlaced, and the officer can retrieve it ...
This.
