I never use clips as they allow others to know that I am carrying. Concealed carry suits me better.

Why does it matter if people know that you are carrying? You aren't doing anything illegal and if anything it's a decent dissuasion device

Like many on this thread, I'm indifferent as to tip-up vs. tip down. Some of my knives are configured each way.

What is consistent is how I carry them - clipped in my front strong-side (right hand) pocket.

Except when I am carrying my SigP238 there.... then I carry my knife in a cargo pocket (if wearing cargo pants/shorts) or weak side (if no cargo pockets available)

IWB Front Right Tip up

I have been taking to carrying my Benchmade 710 IWB.
I clip in just to the right of my first belt loop and then angle it towards my center so I can bend over and all that.

Seems to be working pretty well so far. It allows for active movement, is concealed and accessible by either hand if necessary.

I also carry my leguiole in my right front pocket too.

You aren't doing anything illegal...
Maybe, maybe not. There are some municipalities in TX where it is illegal to carry a knife with a locking blade. Do you know all the ordinances of each city you visit? I don't.

I'm not advocating that we conceal our knives as a way to skirt the law, but it could certainly save a person a lot of trouble if he inadvertently found himself in a knife-unfriendly locale.

The most secure way to carry would be in either a zippered inner pocket or a belt sheath with a combination velcro/snap closure.

I carry a reasonably-sized assisted-opener in an older horizontal-carry nylon pouch with velcro closure. In addition, I use an inch-wide band cut from an old cruiser bicycle inner tube to provide extra flap security. I wear the pouch just above my right hip pocket (I'm a Southpaw). Though I'm not trying to conceal it, I've observed that most folks don't notice it.

I recently bought a Kershaw... (trying to remember the name) Nerve. The clip came attached for tip-down carry, but it looks like there are holes to move the clip to the other end. I've been carrying it clipped inside my *back* left pocket (strong side) all the way to the outside. It's out of the way there better than clipped to my belt or clipped in my front pocket, and just as easy to grab. I should try it tip-up...

If I was in San Antonio or NYC, I'd carry it deep in my left front pocket w/o using the clip.

Hunting in Maine for many years my Buck Folder 110 was carried in a belt sheath that opened the blade as you drew it. Have not seen it for 12 years, buried somewhere in the gun safe up north but can not for the life of me remember who made the sheath. I have numerous David Yellowhorse 110's, the old Buck folders are hard to beat.
