I was watching the Punisher and in one scene the dad has his matched pair of Colts in a glass topped display case. Looks like a desk. Way cool. I thought of buying a curio cabinet to display some of 1911's on occasion. There is a gushop in my area that has a nice way of displaying rifles, they are on white painted peg board with spot lights mounted on the ceiling for a dramatic lighting effect.

I was in Houston a couple of weeks ago and Collectors Firearms in the Galleria area has there collection on collector firearms in nice upright display cases that are internally lit. Very nice presentation.

Anyone have any particularly nice methods of display that they would like to share?

Sure would be nice to have a walk in safe room as mentioned in a previous post to display the firearms.

The only way you should display them is if they are in a walk in safe, then you can put them on the wall or in glass cases. Otherwise, all you are doing is putting a big sign saying "steal me!"

Right now I have 3 loaded handguns sitting on my nightstand next to a shotgun leaning against the wall. Everything else is hanging on the wall in a rack. I'm planning on stashing two of my handguns in places around the house so if I'm not wearing I dont have to run to a bedroom or something like that.

I have a glass fronted cabinet that has a couple of older guns and my kids B.B. guns. Nothing of any value.

Snatch and grab robbers will hopefully be happy with those and will not notice the safes.

In my dream house, I have my home office built into the basement as a seperate room, like a large walk-in safe room. The door will be a steel exterior door, complete with multiple deadbolt locks. Inside my secured office will be space to display some of my firearms. Until then, in the safe.

I know some folks who - decades ago - used to have guns displayed in nice, glass-fronted cabinets.

They're in steel safes now.

Yea........, I know, I secure mine too. Purpose of the post wasn't to ask about opinions on security. I know that there are some high end collectors who display their collections and some gunshops have some really nice displays. That's what I was interested in.

Proudly on a home-made rack. I'm going to secure the room they are in (not visibly from outside but it will be secured) as part of my home improvement projects. It won't be a safe, but it will slow any thieves down a bit. The TV and computers will be easier to get to so they'll grab that junk first hopefully buying some more time for good guys to discover them and/or intervene.

The ones that I have outside of the safe (which is quite a few thanks to the C&R  ) are essentially clubs. Each rifle has a tag on it & there is a matching tag in the safe with the bolt attached to it.

Eventually I would like to wrap a set of racks around the stairwell (up out of reach). There will be a visible cable run through all the trigger guards & bolted to the wall. The bolts will still be in the safe.

Four Blackpowder guns are displayed above the mantle. Everything is locked up, except the one I carry.

I don't display

I keep all mine in a safe as well. Although, I have to admit, I love to see a nice gun case display.

Then again, so do a lot of ne'er-do-wells.

Before I got my safe, I kept them in locked gun cases. It wasn't a theft deterrent (it would keep them from getting banged up as they are passed to the getaway car), but it kept the little fingers off.

I have a gun-cuff system which can be bolted to the wall, and then a steel bar slides in front of the rifles, but I haven't installed it. With a little room in my safe yet, I'll wait on the guncuff.

Of course, when the kids are gone, the grandkids will be over, so.....

The only one of my more-than-several firearms that's 'displayed' is my NAC Le Mat Navy replica. It's just too beautiful and retro-exotic to live in the safe all the time.

Even it is locked behind heavy Lexan in a lighted curio cabinet, relatively safe from unsupervised handling. The cabinet itself is not visible from the foyer or through any window exposed to passers-by.

It never fails to elicit rapt interest from those guests invited to see it, whether they're gun owners or not. It's led to some interesting conversations and even a couple of 'conversions' from among the few hoplophobes of my acquaintance.

Aside from discretely stashed HD pieces and my 'always' carry, the rest are in the safe(s). These days, it just doesn't pay to advertise.

I display my handguns one at a time.
On the coffee table in front of me, On the Kitchen table in front of me,ect....
My father is building me a handgun cabnet out of oak that will sit into the wall beside my bed. Lighted on the inside with a picture of a harley panhead, framed for the door.

I don't. Every firearm in this house is under lock and key unless it's strapped to my or the wifes body. The reason being 4 kids. Ages 3, 2, 2 and 7. The 7 year old knows not to play with guns. She shoots and even has her own pistol but the other three will quickly find anything, not just guns, that they're not supposed to touch unless it's locked in one of the gun safes.

Not to beat it to death, but my feelings lie with several of the other cautious paranoics: the lovely gun cabinet contains decoys that would appeal only to the "firearm challenged". Everything else is stashed so well my brothers can't find them. (They and two hunting buddies are the only savants; everyone else thinks gun oil never touches my delicate skin) The exception would be one of my 1911's-follows me wherever I go.

As much as I love fine furniture, I decided long ago that I don't wish to display my firearms in a fragile glass-front case. My brother learned that lesson many years ago. I don't think my job is to make it easier for anyone to steal my stuff.

Regards,
Rabbit.
