how do you feel about the NRA?

Maybe if the NRA were to explain some of their actions to their membership I'd feel less betrayed, but I'd have to hear the reasoning behind some of the recent sellouts before I could decide whether or not to feel that way...

In fact the NRA does explain and is notable for making information available to its members, including the reasons for its actions. Why do you think that whining on an Internet gun forum will get you any better explanations or any more of them. As an NRA member you surely have mailing addresses, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers for the NRA.

It's Wetzeling to complain in the same breath about both recent sellouts and insufficient information on which to base sound conclusions. By what mystical process do you arrive at the judgment that there have been any sellouts at all, much less recent sellouts, when you say you don't know why the NRA has taken actions that make you feel betrayed.

GOA probably can help you with those feelings of betrayal. It seems to accommodate other people who feel done in a lot--not only by the NRA but also by the United States government, state and local government, the military, the police, their friends, their families, Sen. Tom Coburn, me, the water supply, and forum moderators who close threads in a giant conspiracy to do them evil. You might simply be in the wrong organization for you.

Forget about your apparently unattainable goal of finding reasons to counter decisions you've already made in your head. Don't let firearms get in the way of your finding a social group more to your liking. Go for a better fit with your personality. As an added bonus you won't find me or anyone like me in GOA, so you'll feel even better.

Oh, and my apologies to Mr. Hairless for accusing him of being an attorney, I know of no greater slander and I humbly seek his forgiveness.

Sure, no problem. All is forgiven. Enjoy the holidays among all this good fellowship. :)

Nra Bashing

I have posted before BUT I will post again.the NRA was stated by generals of the army because of the terible shooting of the soldiers in the civil war.It is congress approve organization.it is the official records keeping org.the NRA only got into the politicle arena because of the attack against gun ownership. The ILA is the legislative branch and the main NRA has to be careful what they do so as not to lose their gov.standing.you dont want to join,ok do not but dont be like the union member who complains even tho he gets the benefit of protection but does not want to pay dues.Mass had 1,500,000 licensed gun owner more than vote in election.but they dont vote and see what they got.I have been a member since 1939 and have seen alot go on in the NRA,but remember they rep you and if you dont contribute dont complain.:uhoh::confused::fire:

Those days are long gone. The NRA no longer has any "official" standing as a government agency nor does Congress have anything at all to do with its existence or operation.

ILA and NRA have to run separate because of Tax laws, not anything to do with NRAs association with the government.
NRA is a tax exempt organization and tax exempt orgs are not allowed to lobby. That's why donations to ILA are not tax deductible.

NRA is respected as an organization so they have standing in the Law Enforcement community for sure

Any government sponsorship or approval ended many years ago.

The NRA today has only the name in common with what you describe.
