Hi, my name is Mot, and I'm a gunoholic.....

When funds are running low (for me no overtime) how do you get your gun fix?

THR is a big help
Gratuitous gun porn?
Sell or trade something off?
Pull the ones out of the back of the safe?
Harass the people at Gander Mountain with no intent to buy? (My personal fav)

What do you do?

I went and bought a GAMO pellet rifle that shoots 1100 fps. Put a nice tasco 4x scope on it, and painted it all camo, and shoot it in my back yard. I like to try different types of pellets to see what kind of groups i can produce. And I like to see how far i can hit a target. This really helps especially because i can go out in the backyard anytime i feel the "need". Its a great challenge and highly entertaining. Plus its cheap!

bkjeffrey tell us which model is it? :D and around how much and where to get it? share with us the poor guys, lol

THR helps.

Air pistols are great, too.

Even better is a centerfire revolver, so I can dry fire 'til my heart's content. Helps my shooting, too (lots of other good reasons to own one, which is another thread).

Its not so much of a funding problem as it is a neighbor problem. As for the OP, its a mix of THR, gun porn, pulling something out of the safe and laying them across my lap as i surf the net for gun porn and when possible i like to window shop at my local shop. If my Gamo hadnt broke and i had decent supply of .22 layin around i would mention those.

$80 C&R guns. Cheap to buy but you can easily spend a few weeks tinkering with it. Considering how many hours of entertainment you can get for $80 it ends up being fairly cheap entertainment (even more if you sell it when you are finished).

LAYAWAY! I had very little funds due to unseasonal and torrential rains here in North Texas. Saw an FAL built off of a Isreali Heavy Barrel kit. Layaway! It wasn't the first time. Have you ever had problems finding soemthing decent and decently priced at a Pawn Shop? One day I happened to go to one that was JUST putting out some rifles that someone had left too long in Pawn and lost. Saw two Mausers, asked to look at them. One was a decent Russian captured K-98, the other was a GEW-98, priced at $129 EACH! $40 later I had both on layaway for 90 days.

Target practice on paper and cute little bunnies in by back yard with my Benjamin 392. Puts a 15.6 gr pellet out at 650fps with 8 pumps, which is more than enough for bunnies, crow, and tree rats . Most Walmarts carry them for about $125, but I got mine off of Pyramydair.com for $139.99, and got a few tins of pellets(buy 3 get 1 free) to put me over $150 for free shipping. Might also want to get the William's peep sight, I wouldn't bother scoping the thing as it makes pumping somewhat harder.

I've shot about 5000 pellets, and probably dry fired(with one pump in it) at least 50000 times without a problem. Accuracy is pretty good(certainly more accurate than me), but the trigger takes some time to break in.

Pass it forward to another.

Does not even have to actually shooting, it might be showing someone how to use a reloader, or clean a gun, or fixing hot dogs and cooking burgers at a club or babysitting a kid so a lady can go shoot or some RKBA something...

To keep it - give it away.

How raised - what you do.

One thing thats always served me is find an obscure gun and research the heck out of it. I also suggest changing grips around every few days--check out www.2rco.com, sorry for the shameless self promotion. I have a buddy that comes up with alot of old junk guns mostly blow up in your hand suicide specials and weird old belgian made stuff I buy em cheap $5 to $20 and try to make em work again --get the cylinders in time etc. they are still efectively paper weights fo display but its fun to mess with the actions.

I like all of these, I have also found it entertaining to go to Wal-mart and try to buy .22lr ammo (I am under 21 so they will not sell it because it is listed as "Pistol Ammo" in their computer), then have long arguments with whatever manager they finally summon. Success rate is 50% so far out of 4 tries. I am also supposably banned from entering one of the stores now
(Not from any legal standpoint, just "I don't want to see you here again" :p) You can also buy yourself a cheap airsoft gun for $15 and set up targets to practice clearing your house.

Plink with a co2 pistol in my back yard, or just sit watching whatever on TV holding my CZ carbine or Saiga...maybe the Ruger SP101.

Maybe that's weird, dunno.

as of now i dont have a good way to get a "fix"...

so that gun porn is sounding pretty sweet at this point:p

highfive, Gamo Carbine Sport, now comes with scope and sells for $159 at academy sporting goods. It can shoot a 1/2"group at 20yds!!! No lie. 1000 fps with pba ammo with a single cock, no pumping. I was really sceptical about the barrel cocking mechanism as far accuracy goes. But it doesnt affect it at all from what i can tell. This gun is picky with ammo though, just gotta try different stuff. my favorite thing to do shoot the stop sign 3 blocks down from my house. You gotta hold about two feet high and correct for wind, and it doesnt damage the sign at all. But its cool to fire a pellet and 3 seconds later hear it ding. Watch for cars!

That would be breaking rule 2 and 4.

It would also count as reckless discharge in most states.

Airguns are not toys, they can do SERIOUS damage.

I know 10 ft/lbs seems small, but it's enough to make a nice .177" diameter hole and penetrate a few inches, certainly enough to ruin someone's day..

When I can't shoot, it's THR, getting out the gun to dry fire, and gun porn for me. Has anyone here played that "Gun Club" game for the PS2? It's endorsed by the NRA, and pretty much tailor-made for gun nuts like us. It's a non-violent first-person shooter. Basically a target-shooting video game. You can shoot skeet, trap, cans, there's a shooting gallery... Fun game, though it's gotten terrible reviews. Oh well. Just from people who need blood and guts to keep their attention.
