At least you had boards to cutout your own guns. We had to use whatever fingers that hadn't been chopped off in farming accidents. I asked for a scrap pine board every Christmas, but never got one.
We only got a small bowl of warm dirt on Holidays, and relished every spoonful.
Plus we had to walk 10 miles uphill to school, both ways, in 8 ft of snow and if there wasn't any snow, we had make our own.
But to address the OP:
Aurora, IL has banned the possession of "Replica Guns" by anyone under the age of 18, IIRC.
