Just wondering how to keep my gun case's foam clean. They're getting pretty dirty with all the oil and powder residues.

Well, huh... I never really though about it. I have one case that I keep in the trunk in case I buy a gun that doesn't come with a box. It's kinda nasty with cosmoline and other gun gunk.

Most of my cases are still pretty clean.

New foam might be an easier solution. Not sure where to get it, but someone here will probably know. Short of that, can't imagine some handwashing in a mild detergent and cold water could hurt. Probably would dry overnight.

Fill bathtub with hot water while adding a grease-cutting soap like a good dishwashing detergent.

Wash the foam well, squeeze out foam and drain soapy water from tub. Add new water and rinse foam. You may have to rinse several times. Use water as hot as you can stand. Cuts the vestiges of the grease/oil a little better.

Make sure the foam is bone dry before you put it back in the case. Airing outside on a good, hot sunny day is the best ticket.

I like the idea of buying new foam. You get clean & more function from new foam w/ all its nice *CUSH*

I got my foam from a shop that sells material for sewing and hobbies, the wife took me there and they had foam 1in to 6in thick. Walking arount the flea market this summer I bought a nice leather attache case with combo locks for 3.00$ and made my own pistol case for 3 handguns with 6.00$ worth of foam. 9.00$ and a great pistol case. Boon ( I am cheap I"ll admit it. )
