Some Guys Just "Over-Do" It
Be practical. Use only what you need for the situation that might logically be encountered. On a Wal-Mart trip one doesn't (normally) need rappelling gear, shooting gloves, eye goggles, night vision gear, ear protection, flashight, grenade launchers, AR-15, multiple Leathermans, gas-mask, emergency smoke escape mask, quick-deployment ladders, traffic flares, or a first-aid kit, etc.
You're right. It does seem like fricking Batman. All you were missing on this trip was your Cape, fer crissake.
I use the Wildnerness stiff utlity belt and it easily handles my daily carry rig. My carry includes a 2-mag support side rig and a cell phone. I try to travel relatively light if possible. I do, however, carry an extra cape that I can always pull out if the need arises and put on over my Superman blue t-shirt.
Good luck and stay safe.
