Not much crime here, and there is almost always someone home, so I just take my chances. I don't have much of real value anyways. I know that's not the best idea, I'll probably get a gun safe at some point.

I don't hide my guns--I automate them! No, not really...but would anybody care to find out for themselves? ;)

never liked keeping all my eggs in one basket, someone takes my basket I'm out . i have them scattered every were, some here some at dads some at my kids house.

I have low-end gun safes, where the more valuable and higher-powered guns go, as well as some of The Rack. These are heavy steel wire frames with rubber-painted barrel rests which can be bolted to the wall or to each other back-to-back to be free-standing and hold 8-longarms per side -- they have aircraft cabling to thread through the trigger-guards and padlock. They are not high-security but will prevent passive mishandling and misappropriation.

I live in the placid suburbs in an inconspicuous house and no hidden approaches. Even with that I load up with the garage door closed and only take one rifle and one handgun at a time to the range.

Storage wise, they get their own room.

i got a hi end gun safe that is the price of a midrange gunsafe.

scandinavian quality my friends!

I take the measures I feel I need to to secure my property... I wouldn't go posting those measures in specifics on the internet though. About 3 years ago, someone posted a challenge on THR that felt secure in their online identity, claiming that no one could identify him by starting with the info he had on THR.

Less than 72 hours later, he got a PM containing his name, address, and telephone number. Since then, corporations have become less concerned with securing private information. While technology updates against hacking, its often the hackers that drive the changes. Make your own PERSEC judgment before deciding how much information you want to post on the internet.

I keep everything in a midrange, fire rated safe, $1500. The only gun I keep out is a 40 cal pistol for protection, but every morning when I leave for work, it too goes in the safe. Its only in the dresser at night. I can fit about half my ammo store in the safe also, but the other half is in an open gun cabinet.

I live out in the country, so I'm overly concerned with a break-in, 99% of the folks around here are good people.

ALLSTATE " THE GOOD HANDS PEOPLE " Seriously In a good heavy gun safe, that weigh a ton. P.S. if you live in the Boonies like I do a few Claymore's around the property & some constantina wire work's well ?

Basic gun safe. Can only be removed if both the closet door and safe door are removed (which of course is only possible after it's open). Unless of course you rip out the framing, which is possible, I suppose. I live in a relatively crime-free area, and the house is almost always occupied, so I'm not too worried about someone breaking in and having the time for some remodeling...

Sturdy safe. I think this poll should have been categorized differently, as $1800+ isn't really high end. I'd be curious to know if many here had a true high end "safe", b-rated or better ala Graffunder.

.22LR rifle in a case in the closet, 12ga shotgun propped up in the corner of my bedroom. Unfortunately both are 1700 miles away from me at the moment, having lived the past 3 months in hotel rooms. Can't wait for a place of my own!

::EDIT:: Oh, and when I was there, a box of shells was sitting in a nearby drawer under a stack of unassuming papers.

I use a locked gun cabinet - for small hands. A few are hidden under minimal lock. Nothing a determined thief would thief would find difficult, if I were away from home. However, I do have insurance on them for the full amount.

My guns are special to me, and I have had some of them for a number of years. But, they are no different from any other property I own when it comes to insuring against loss. As long as the grand-kids and others I don't want to have unsupervised access to them are protected. That's good for me.
