Specifically, how do y'all store your take-down rifles, like lever Winchesters, Marlin Papooses, AR-7s, and so forth (maybe even AR-15s)? Do you leave them "put together," or do you separate the halves?

I've got my grandfather's Remington Model 12CS (I think that's what it is) in .22 Remington Special (.22 WRF), and it's a take-down, but I can't decide what action to take for storage.

I keep them together, the more separate pieces there are, the more chances to misplace one.

Why take it down for storage unless you have a space problem? Just oil it and park it.

The take-down feature is merely to make a shorter package to take on a trip. Smaller "suitcase" for the gun.

All put together and in the safe.

They only come apart for airplane rides. Rarely even take them down for the car trip.

Seeing how that is your grandads gun I'd say leave it put together and shoot it every time you go to the range :)

Believe me, I try. Usually amounts to only one box of 50 every trip, as .22 WRF isn't easy to come by around here (and I loathe ordering). I also hate partial boxes of ammo, hence the full 50. :D

Generally, I keep them together, standing up in a safe.

I don't like to store guns in cases. I've had some come out with rust.

Other - i.e. both. I keep rifles such as pump .22's and Browning SA .22's assembled in the safe. However, I have a couple AR-7's and Rossi Combos which are broken down.

Winchester Model 12 is assembled and so is the mossberg 500, the mossberg's deer barrell is seperate as I dont use it as much. Both stored in the lock down cabinet.
