How far do you drive to shoot if at all?

I love all the rurals bragging about their backyard ranges, in a thread that is titled, How far do you drive to shoot IF AT ALL. :fire: Yes I am jealous.

I drive about 55 miles one way to shoot 100+ yards outdoor. Mostly freeway though so it is still under an hour. Benefit is it is $40 per year.

A couple indoor ranges are within 20 miles. But the range fee is $12.50 so that means either way I am in about $20 before ammo.

15 minutes. I have a limited membership at a private club.
$50 this year and $5 to shoot all day. $10 for guests limit 2 guests. 100 yd range and pistol only. $65 next year. I'm on the waiting list for full membership. $240 year + $240 initiations fees.

I drive to the public range ~14 miles one way. It's $3/hour for rifle and pistol, or a round of trap/skeet. Rifle range is only up to 100 yards. Most of weekend, it's packed.

Well, I step out the back door, and have a 700 yard shooting range right in front of me. Go to another piece of property, 1 mile. The rest of the "ranges" are scattered over about 1000 acres. I'm set as long as dad don't sell it before I start farming and gain enough to get my own land.

My private gun club range is about 25 miles (one way) but, worth the trip. I really like the various hand gun, air gun and rifle ranges, including our outdoor archery range. Our gun club is family oriented and guests are welcome when accompanied by a member.

Need to move.....I have to drive 55 miles to shot 100 yard range....$20 per day....

Went to sight in 22-250...poor range management..had new shooters with AR's dropping casings down on top of me...hot...some kid shooting a 50 cal at his iPhone...rapid fire left and right...and to top it off....before I could pull the trigger on my target, yes some a-hole shot it.

I can drop the lid on my commode and rest a rifle on the window sill and shoot hogs at anywhere from a few yards to 600 yards before brush gets in the way.

My gun club charges $100.00 a year plus required NRA membership fees. The club is about 25 miles from my house. I sometimes shoot at my mother-in-law's farm less than 10 miles from my home.

the club I am going to re-up at is about 25 miles away, lighted rifle range to 285 yards, and 50 meter indoor range. Costs $140 to join with $60 annual dues or something like that.

100 miles round trip to my "sporrtsman's club". Beats shooting with the LEOs at the "cop range" where they look at you like they are going to follow you home and take what you have. I had a 600 yard range on my farm until that area joined the "incorporated area." and shooting became illegal. Unfortunately sold the farm before Florida passed preeminent jurisdiction. Fool that I was. At least at my private gun club I don't have to suck up to the local fuzz, only the recently empowered range nazis. Shootin' ain't for the weak of heart!

100 miles each way to a tactical rifle match once a month March-October. If I do them ALL that's 8 matches times 200 miles = 1600 miles a year.

I have driven to other States to shoot a match but I am one of the backyard range guys also.

Pistols and shotguns at a friend's farm, 25 miles away.

IDPA matches (3 so far) or sighting in rifles at a range, as a guest, 28 miles away.

Anything and everything at a 12,500+ acre deer lease, 4 hours away.

More than half the fun for me is to shoot with friends, or on my best day, with my kids. Wherever that place is, I will go there.

My club range is about 60 miles one way, right at an hour drive. The drive is inconvenient, but the place is awesome!

too far. 70miles one way, 2 lane roads, not all paved. nice range but out in middle of nowhere.

7 miles to an outdoor range, 11 miles to one indoor range, 18 miles to another that has private lanes for holster practice.

am very lucky = 8 ranges

Home club range is 5 minutes away and goes to 300yds for rifle, 60yds for pistol, 75yds archery, trap field. No crowds.

Closest organized range & club for action pistol is 1hr away.
Right next door to the action pistol is an organized metallic silhouette range, smallbore and highpower. It goes to 500 meters. Used to go regularly but not so much since I started shooting pistol.

30 minutes to shoot gongs to 1,200yds, spaced 100yds, on an unofficial word of mouth backcountry range. Found out about this in August and have only been twice. Lots of learning awaits me there that's for sure.

1 hr drive for indoor pistol - seldom go.

1/2 hr drive and 1 hr drive to two other organized club ranges at which I am a guest from time to time when those clubs hold rifle or BP invitationals. This is a couple times a year.

1.5 hr away is a combined skeet-trap-5 stand facility that I got to every now and then.

10 miles to indoor club (not very often though) 100 miles to family land (2x a month on average)

All you back porch shooters dont know how good ya have it! My back yard is a perfect 25 yard range with a 12' tall berm but I doubt my neighbors would be too thrilled with the idea... Sometimes when im feeling ballsy I will crack open a window and scare off birds/squirrels with a pump bb gun. My range is a 20 mile drive but good thing is its free along with all the common caliber brass and range lead I can get my hands on. It kinda hurts knowing im spending more money on getting there than it costs me to load up the 5 boxes a week I shoot.

A backdoor range would be amazing... I could just shoot all my boolits into a trap and melt em down into new boolits... my lead meager lead supply would last a lifetime

I drive 10 miles to an outdoor club range- $175 a year. Or I can drive 130 miles to my range in the mountains.
One problem with the club range is they have so many competitions on the weekends it is sometimes difficult to find a bay to shoot in. Of course in the winter months the days are too short to get there after work...I'd go directly from work but I drive a company vehicle in which firearms are forbidden.
