Over the next week, www.firearmbuzz.com will be evaluating the most popular gun forums on the Web. Using feedback from forum participants we will publish an official review of the top sites.

We need your feedback. What’s great about this forum? Where could it be improved? How would you describe the site – e.g., focus, member attitudes, responsiveness, etc.? Please post your response!

I’ll let you know when the review is completed and available on www.firearmbuzz.com!

Thanks.

out of the dozen or so forums i go to, this is my favorite. not because i like guns but because the people are great.

Get the Glock!

Seriously this place is my favourite. Dude, did I just spell like a Redcoat???

Always my first stop on the world wide web. The information available is boundless and the people are kind and courteous. Could it get any better? I honestly can't see how.

2 things (and in this order)

#1) The people.. We are more than friends, we are FAMILY.

#2) The topic.. Who doesn't like guns? (Oh wait, I can think of a few)

Topics we are interested in (guns) discussed among polite and intelligent people (I'm speaking about the rest of the forum, not myself of course) and you've got your home away from home.

The thing that makes THIS gun forums so enjoyable is that people are "respectful".

Tamara, Wild Alaska, P95, Old Fuff, 1911 Tuner; wide knowledge base. Preacherman comes up with some cool topics.

Your response

Folks -- what you are saying is consistent with other long term forums -- it's the people and the civilized response.

Is this because of the mod's or because of how you treat each other? What actually makes the Highroad a great forum? Do the newbee's figure it out and leave if they aren't welcome, or do you have to "push" them out (in a nice way of course).

You would not believe some of the hostility and vitriolic responses I have had on other sites...oh well, is human nature I guess.

I'm a newbee..no one has "pushed" me or made me feel unwelcome. I feel right at home here..a great group of people , with a mutual interest.

An excellent site, from top to bottom. The people are almost always great(There are exceptions) and the knowledge base is wide. I also like the moderation. Neither so facist that you can't express yourself, nor so loose that personal attacks are tolerated.

This has been the best firearms forum on the net, since the Firing Line was closed. It is sophisticated, mature, interesting, compelling and has thorough information on a wide-range of topics. Best of all, the moderators have achieved a magic balance of allowing us maximum freedom without allowing personal attacks. Very, very good firearms forum and my 1st choice each day. OK, I'm biased. But other forums either have too little traffic to get a response, are off topic about very asinine topics better suited to the Dr. Laura show, or create hostility among the members. There are some other great firearms websites out there, but none have the traffic this site has, so a useful response to questions is generally lacking. Lots of wisdom and help here!

Huh?

There are other forums out there? Whoa...:D

I'll let you answer for yourself:

1. Where else can you go to discuss how to carry concealed at a nude beach? You may want to read it some time. I find the hole discusion to be interesting. (Pun intended.) Try not to cry with laughter.

2. Then read about the guy that wanted to sell his 1911 but didn't want to because of his Dad. Then read about the people that sent a complete stranger (well, not really a stranger, he is, after all, part of the High Road family) money. Try not to cry with a full heart when you read it. They MAY be hope for mankind yet...

3. Then read about the Lee Precision treatment. I think that THR got results for the chap.

4. Then research the site and find a question that has been asked 100's of times before and ask it again. You'll see that 1-2 people tell you to do research (there are always a few), while 100 answer you AGAIN, with the same interest and support as the first 100 or so times.

5. Then look to see how many newbies post a post (?) to just say "Hi, I'm new". How many peolple get mad? None. How many people stop in to say "Hi, Welcome, any questions"? Usually 10-30.

6. Where else (other than AA and couseling) can people go to to get moral support.

7. Where else can you go, that when a member dies, the whole community greives? KY Rifle, etc...

This should answer the question you asked for you.

This is not a discussion group. This is a an extended family.

Im a newbie here and let me tell you I love the site because of its common goal. I was just at (ill change the name) blank_rifles.com and was flamed on my second post before I had the chance to explain myself. Its unfortunate people cannot see through their own political views to fight for a common goal of gun ownership and responsible gun handling. :)

I am in front of my computer at work ALL day. I spend hours hanging out here at this forum. There are a couple smaller ones I visit, but I consider this place my home

I'm fairly new to ght gun forums (fora?), and as has been said, THR has become my "base" for browsing. It's interesting to see the same folks on others, but they all seem to center here; even TFL seems to have fallen to second place. Note also how THR traffic is higher than the "specialized" fora.
