How long does it take to receive a stolen weapon back?

In addition to one of the hardened glove compartments you can go with a portable gun safe, really a metal box with a lock and is either cabled to something hard to remove or bolted through the floor. A hardened center console is another option as is a rear cargo box that lets you lock things in the rear of your Jeep.

The Jeep isn't really much more vulnerable than any other vehicle, if a thief wants into your car nothing short of an APC is safe. The difference is a thief can get into a soft top Jeep much more quietly by either slashing the top or, if they are more polite and smarter, unzipping one of the windows. Personally I have a box that takes up the space where the rear seat was. It uses the seat hardware to secure to the floor and is secured by the rear door. Anything I can't afford to lose is placed in there. Nothing goes into the glove compartment or center console that I can't afford to lose.

I've had my Jeep broken into three times in the last 5 years. I don't lock my doors, in the hopes of avoiding damage when they enter my Jeep and find that there isn't anything worth stealing. They broke the lock on my center console, I haven't bothered replacing it. The last time they slashed one of my windows anyway, probably pissed that I didn't leave them anything.

I like my Jeep, but sometimes I wonder why... :)

Stolen Weapon

I had a handgun stolen from my truck, along with other items in August 2005. The County Sheriff recovered the items and made an arrest in September 2005. The case has not went to trial yet and the handgun is being held as evidence.I was told by the Prosecuting Attorney, that the Firearm and other Items would be held until all appeals etc were completed so if I am lucky, I might get my firearm back in 2010.
