I always figure out by weight. Weigh like 5-6 cases, take an average, figure out how many in a pound, then weigh the bucket separately, like listed above.

I'm not even gonna try to guess....

I'll admit I'm not counting EVERY round while counting but I am going to weigh 50 random cases, average the weight and do the conversion.

Before anyone whines my 80% is much more subjective than my case counting method.

Sides you'll know about how many cases you're getting in that bucket at the yard sale, right? :D

I can do it in 9mm, 40 S&W, 357, 41, and 44 mag, also 223, 308, and 30-06. (I'm not going to however :neener: , cause all the other stuf is sorted by headstamp already) But I don't shoot anything else in enough volume to keep that many cases around.

Answer early next week. Going on a long weekend break.

See 'ya all later.

Hey wait a minute.

Taking a break? What about us? ;) . We need to know.

Regards,

:) :) :)

Best way to find the number of .38 cases might be to fill that bucket 80% full with those little 50 count boxes then count them!! :D

Sorry about the delay not teasing, just VERY busy at work. Here's what I come up with:

I weighed 100 cases, ALL were within a 1/2 grain of 68 grains.

Bucket full weighed 53 lbs. bucket empty weighed 1.3 lbs.

So with the conversion factor of 7000grains= 1 pound I come up with about 5322 pieces of 38 special brass. All "once fired" federal range pick-ups.:D

If my math is correct I paid .005 cents each piece.:D

NOW YOU KNOW.
EDIT: Math correction

WHAT!!! After all that and you're guessin"??!!!?? That would not be an accurate count...You could be off by a hundred cases. Everyone has been waiting for the exact count and you weigh them and do an educated guess???:banghead: And we were expectin' you to sit down and count each and every one of those cases so we could settle this once and for all.:D :neener:

The empty bucket weighed 51.7 pounds??? Heavy bucket.:D
