How many extra mags do you carry?

Let the come!!!

Warrant my friend, make sure they have one.

That's just stating the obvious my friend, but thank you none the less for this advice.

I highly doubt that they are going to come to my house to bother me and check up on something that is so... On second thought I should just keep my mouth shut.:D

back to the supject at hand. MAGS that you carry.

Can anyone tell me how often you should unload your mags and let the spring regain some of their resistance???

Hehe, I think the correct answer, is how many mags will fit in the back of my car? Sorry I just had this funny picture of extreme excess.

The 7 round that fits in the walther PPK; or the 12 round that fits in the CZ-82; or the 7 round that fits in the Sig P220. Which ever gun I happen to be carrying. That's it. I have no need for an extra magazine. I carry my guns for defensive purposes, not to audition for Lethal Weapon Pt5. I will not pull out my gun and point it at someone unless I intend to shoot them. I Will not try and scare anyone with it. If I don't believe that I can hit my target, then I will not be pulling the trigger. The only thing WORSE than missing your intended target, is hitting an "Unintended" target. And if I raise the gun up and point it, there is only 1 situation whereby I won't be pulling the trigger. And that's if the threat has turned his/her back on me and is going in the opposite direction; and thus, no longer a threat. But again, if I raise the gun, I will pull the trigger. And I don't need a 2nd magazine. 1) The first round isn't in the magazine, so even a magazine failure is not going to hinder the first shot. 2) If I have to change magazines, it's either because the 1st magazine became defective, in which case I'm probably screwed. or because I ran out of ammo on the first magazine; in which case I had absolutely no business firing the weapon if I couldn't hit my target. And please, don't try and give me some anecdotes about how policemen miss targets too. There is no comparison between a defensive scenario and a police officer in the most times OFFENSIVE nature of their job. So bringing that up will not mean anything to me. Anyway; the answer is "0" "Zero" on the 'Extra Mags".

when i carry my glock 26 i carry 1 spare mag on me and 1 15rd glock 19 mag in my car. i'm thinking about changing the spare i keep on me to a 15 rd as wel.

I tend to not carry an extra magazine. most of my carry pistols are double stackers. If 16 rounds can't save my bacon it's time to beat feet, but then again I would attempt to beat feet well before drawing down on someone. :what:

Carry a Sig 228 from back in the Berlin wall days. 13 in the gun and a spare of 12 in the truck console or in my bag if I am hiking, rucking, or going for a run. I figure if I can't solve my problems with 13 rounds one or more of a few things has happened: 1. I didn't train hard enough 2. Then I was S.O.L. to begin with 3. The Zombie Invasion has started before I had anticipated xD

If I can't get out of trouble, with whats in my gun, I'll be dead, or running like hell.

Exactly:)
I always carry a single mag in the gun and one chambered. I make a habit sticking around for a knockdown drag out gun fight.

I carry one 13rd G23 mag as my extra for my G27. It's kinda hit and miss if I keep it with me. Most of the time it's in the door handle of my truck and it comes in the house with me at night.

I don't carry any extra magazines for my Glock 27 (my usual CCW of choice).

But sometimes I carry my 5 shot snub-nose revolver, with no extra bullets at all!

I stopped being a Soldier back in 1992. ;)

I'm with EasyG above here. We even carry the same stuff.

So I carry 0 (zero) extra mags/reloads.

Now, on duty, 13+1 in the G23 plus two mags (40) plus a G27 on the ankle (total of 49).

Plus the OC spray, taser, and that stupid freaking baton. Word has come down the line that we won't have to carry the baton anymore after July 1. I am too excited for words. Well, my left kidney is anyway.

As a general rule, I carry a P99C and one extra mag on the belt. I sometimes carry a BUG, but even then I opt for the extra 9mm mag. It doesn't take up any room, it's not heavy or awkward, it's not difficult to conceal -- and you just never know.

My personal preference would be to carry two spares (not including the one in the pistol) for the 1911 and the G17. I would prob carry the factory G26 mag in the gun, with one G17 mag in a carrier or pocket. If you plan on running a G17 mag in your G26 make sure it works in ur G26. Out of the hundreds of Glocks that I have been around, I have seen one G26 that wouldn't feed reliably with a G17 mag. It was on a qual course, and I didn't get a chance to take a look at the pistol to see what the issue was.

I carry two spares on me about 99% of the time. The other 1% is when I am just going down the street to the store and I pocket my Sig P232. I normally have two more spares in my bag when I am going out of town, or I am working all day.

Depends on where I am at or going but basically just what I have in the gun mostly, no matter if its my J-Frame or G19. I usually have more nearby and better yet, a long gun. Just need enough to get me there.

For all you folks that have the ability to know you'll not need an extra magazine, why not just determine where the trouble will be and avoid it? You don't even need to carry a gun.

I don't know that I will not need an extra magazine.
And you don't know that an extra magazine will be enough.
So where do you draw the line?
Why not ten extra magazines, or twenty, or thirty?

The fact is this: it's all a gamble.

I'm betting that IF I need to shoot someone, I'm not going to need more than 5-to-10 shots.
Others are betting that IF they need to shoot someone, they might need 10-to-30 or more shots.

I could be wrong one day and need 11 shots to save my life.
They could be wrong and need one more bullet than they brought that day to save them.

We all make decisions, every day, based upon probabilities....

If there's a good chance of rain, I might bring a raincoat with me to work.
But if there's only a 1% chance of rain, I will not carry a raincoat, a rain hat, rain over-boots, and an umbrella.

If I'm on vacation there's a good chance that I might be somewhere that does not take a credit/debit card, so I bring some cash too.
But I certainly wouldn't bring 10,000 dollars in cash.

I don't live in the safest of cities, so there is a small chance that I might need a firearm to protect myself someday, so I carry a firearm.
But I certainly wouldn't carry two pistols and four magazines of ammo.

What's the worst that could happen if you're carrying a mag you don't need?

I'm not overly concerned with getting wet, but I do keep a Goretex parka in the truck.

In Jan. '08 I carried no extra mags.
Now in Mar. of '10 I still carry no extra mags. I'd carry a BUG first. That solves more problems and takes up about the same room on my body.

Uno.

I haven't found a comfortable and especially concealable way to carry more yet.
