How many guns do you bring?

When I go to the range, I usually bring at least 2 handguns, and sometimes rifles and a shotgun.

What do you bring when you go?

Usually a couple of pistols and a couple of rifles. That's about all I've got.

I usually bring 5-6, I dont make it to the range that often, so thats usually the number I've acquired or worked on enough since my last visit that I feel the need to make sure they work.
I hardly ever get the chance to shoot for fun.

I used to take a whole bunch of rifles and pistols, but the cleaning time afterward was too much. Now I only take one two orifles and/or pistols.

I usually now go to the range for a specific purpose: practice for highpower, or shoot my internet league, or fun shoot etc. I don't mix the purpose so that narrows down what gun to take.

Mostly handguns-

Smith & Wesson revolver's: 6" 686-5 .357 magnum and
a 5" 629-5 .44 magnum "Classic".

Along with of course, my .45 caliber SIG-Sauer P220A and
my 9m/m P228.

And every once in a while, my 2" pinned barrel Smith model
60 .38 Special.

That's about it; except for my 1-1/8" barrel NAA .22 magnum,
which stays in my front pants pocket.

When I go to the rifle range I take all my centerfire rifles (not that this is that many- a Winchester 30/30 and a SKS) and I usually take one or two of my .22lr rifles (always my scoped Remington 581). I don't get to the rifle range much so when I do I want to be sure to take the guns I can't shoot at the indoor pistol range (the centerfire rifles) to get some use out of them and I want to take the 581 which is much more capable than the 25yd indoor range (to the point that it really isn't fun at less than 50yds). I also usually take one or two handguns.

When I go to the pistol range it usually depends upon which range I go to. The one I usually go to has a 4 gun rule (it is unadvertised though, and since it isn't in any of their literature I found out about it when one of their less friendly employees gave me a long lecture one of the times I took more guns than 4 there- I still go there because it is convenient and most of their employees are more pleasant than that guy). At another range I may take as many as 5 or 6 but it is too much trouble to try to haul more than that.

I have been thinking about cutting the number though in order to get more meaningful practice each time. Fewer guns (two may be ideal, three max) and more ammo and time per gun, and be sure to alternate them just enough that I don't get to one of the guns after fatigue sets in.

When I used to formally go to the range, I would take the Dan Wesson 22 revlover and one centerfire handgun of some sort. I usually planned on putting 200 rounds of 22 through the revolver and 100 rounds of centerfire unless I was shooting 357 Magnum or 44 Magnum, then I usually only took 50 rounds of that but a bit more of rimfire.

If I have a crowd I might bring a few extra somethings for fun or to let new shooters try.

Once a week I'll take one rifle.

I hate cleaning guns.

As range sessions invariably fewer in number than I'd like ........ it's always dilemma time!!!

I guess main decision making factor is what most needs practiced with ... which is generally of course carry piece/pieces.

After that it gets tricky .......... I actually want to take every damn pistol and rifle and ''excercise'' em all ...... but practically speaking (and cleaning allowed for) ....... just have to take ''some of each'' .... which is usually too many! Handguns tho usually take precedence.

I try not to bring more than 2 guns at any given time. It's my tolerance of what I can bear to clean in one day.

Always the carry piece G27
Then 2 of the other 4 pistols I own,usually 150 rounds of 40sw ammo.
Both rifles,Yugo SKS & Bushmaster Shorty.
The Bushmaster takes a barrel change from short to 24" V-match.
Goes from iron sights to scoped.
Generally 200-300 rifle rounds.
All day process,kiss the wife and kids good day.
Clean up is a bear one a day for a week.
Then back to the range for another outting usually within a couple weeks.

Only two, one .22 for warm-up and one other firearm to practice with. I've gotten out of the habit of bringing tons of guns to the range, I end up tossing shots and not learning anything. Now I focus on one gun at a time.
