While I personally am not alarmed by some of the responses, perhaps it's worth considering how someone outside the firearms community might view the responses of someone whose life seems to obsessively revolve around guns.

No offense intended to the OP or any who've responded, but ... reality check, maybe?
Reality check? More like not!

I'm a gun nut. No two ways to say it. Guns are ALWAYS on my mind. They are by far my biggest hobby. Now that I'm getting back into black powder shooting and Civil War era guns, with all the stuff that goes along with them (paper cartridges, bullet casting, soldier's equipment etc. etc.) my GOD... there simply aren't enough hours in the day to think about guns!!

How's that for a reality check, Old Dog? ;)

I'm with Old Dog.

Apparently some of you have never evaluated an applicant or a candidate for promotion in today's world of social media.

Apparently no one has put very much thought into how some of those responses would sound in court when repeated over and over by a district attorney or plaintiff's attorney, and what they would impart regarding mens rea (state of mind).

This stuff is not private, folks. It is permanent and it is discoverable.

I see no way that this discussion could contribute in a positive way to the mission of THR.
