How many in a 5 gal. bucket?

A local range occasionally offers 5 gallon buckets of 9mm brass for sale. They estimate them to be 8000 pieces. I have no idea how they calculate their estimate, but it is inline with other estimates on this thread.

I weighed 100 cases and they were just under 1 lb. I weighed the 5 gal of cases and they were 80 lbs. ( Although just on a bathroom scale and that's with the bucket weight which I'd guess 2 lbs.)

Sooo.... I'm going to conclude that the 8500 number is a pretty close guesstimate of the number of cases in a 5 gal bucket. Case (pun) Closed!!!!
