How many loaded mags?

One mag for the "nightstand" pistol and one for the carry gun. I guess I'll have to take my chances.

Zero, and I don't have any handguns. Each home here has a security system, and among about one hundred homes, No home break-ins during the five years we have been here.
A neighborhood e-mail system reports crimes.

A magazine is only partially full when the SKS is at the river bottom. This helps prevent excess ammo consumption.

Drifter if they are on my property and firing at me, I have every right to shoot back, this is FL and the castle doctrine extends to your property vechicle and even water craft, so perhaps it is you who needs to brush up on the laws of this state. As long as they are a threat and on my land they are subject to being shot.I have carried 40 years and know the NYC laws and the FL laws. If someone in FL is firing at me from a vechicle, on my property, they get FMJ's.I don't know how many gunfights you have been in but I can assure you i have had experience in these matters. You may have a bad guy covering an escape for his pals, while firing at you, if he is on my property it's my opton. If you did this in NYC you would be in violation, as your state is, most likelly. Down South the rules ar different. You have no duty to retreat. An agressor on your property with a deadlly weapon is out of luck, he can't even sue you if he lives. That's why I found a better place to live.
Miscellaneous Laws Include:
Under Florida law, there is no "duty to retreat" if you are attacked in any place you have a lawful right to be. Instead, you may stand your ground and meet force with force, including deadly force, if you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm to yourself or others.

So, what happened to the retreat rule? Well, the only way to find out is read the other amendments and new sections in this Act together, as a whole. If you do that, and start with the amendment to F.S. 776.012 [Use of Force in Defense of Person], that section states a person has no duty to retreat if they “reasonably believe the force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily injury to themself or another, or prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony. If taken literally, you can use deadly force anywhere and anytime, co-occupants be damned, so long as there’s a reasonable belief of imminent death or great bodily harm, or if you reasonably believe it’s necessary to stop the imminent commission of a forcible felony.
So if someone breake into my home, which is a forcible felony, I am not hog tied by the rules that you are. It's my decision as to when I believe that there is no more threat of imminent commision, it doesn't stop when he steps outside my door. If I feel threatned and someone points a gun at me, I don't have to run away, I can stand my ground and continue the fight untill it concludes.
You need to know the rules for each state before calling out members wit a hollier than thou attitude, and giving advice to others that you clearlly don't understand.

all the mags i have..if i have a mag its full...350 rounds of AR-15 mags loaded with 69g hollow points...2 mags of 9mm loaded with winchester supreme pdx1's (17 rounds each mag), would have more but im about to upgrade so buying more mags is pointless,,,thats the only 2 guns at my house right now all the other are at my dads in a fire safe

ignition...u really thing a gun barring criminal gives a hoot...it may nvr happen..someone may nvr break into my house but by god if the do they aint leaving if they are holding a gun..and if there not my gun will be at the back of ther head till the cops arrive..i hope i never have to use a weapon other then hunting but im a realist and am ready if i need to protect my family

as far as zombies..its fun to dream about..unlikely to happen...but lets say the economy falls and people result to stealing and killing..or say another country decides to invade..these are realistic possibilities and id rather be prepared than not...if you aint prepared then your already screwed...people are genetically built to survive so if it comes down to kill or be killed...for all you ppl who think guns are bad and you will never own one..sucks to be you

Four spares for the 1911 (vehicle), two for the Glock (nightstand), I forget (think like 6) for the Mini-14.

Gym, my apologies for misunderstanding your intent and my lack of knowledge of your state laws, i meant no offense by it. Where i live, and in most other places i have lived, pursuing a fleeing intruder would be considered an overly aggressive act and likely to result in prosecution, at the discretion of responding officers and/or DA's office.

I will admit that calling into question your mindset may have been out of line, and my comment about finding a new neighborhood referred to the assumption that a situation requiring you defend against multiple armed assailants outside the home would likely be the result of an altercation with some sort of Organized Crime group.

Again, no offense was, or is, intended.

Sorry for the threadjack.

There seems to be an inference in this thread that storing loaded magazines == ZomBeeApokKeeLips planning. I fundamentally disagree with that premise. The way that I see it:

- There is a value in having extra magazines, since they do wear out and break. (I just had the feed lips on one of my polymer 7.62x39 AR15 magazines completely shear off in storage, unloaded. I've also had steel and aluminum magazines crack and/or break the feed lips off, and I've broken any number of magazines by dropping them.)

- There is value in having extra ammo on hand, due to inevitable fluctuations in supply and pricing.

- There is no more harm in storing spare ammo in a magazine than in the box that it came in.

- Storing extra ammo in the available magazines allows me to spend my time at the range shooting instead of loading magazines.

Seems simple enough. Just keep your storage in line with local fire codes, and all is good.

There are more states with laws that say you are in the wrong than the ones that say you can, Fla. laws are not the norm. That said I have three loaded for my edc, and 19 loaded for my hd rifle, because it don't hurt to be loaded. No offense meant to anyone we can't all move to Fla. man talk about overcrowded.

great post rbernie,

I keep all my mags loaded.

more than several for my SW1911 and Cimarron/Armscor 1911
100+ rounds

more than several for my 5906
100+ rounds

same for my other semi-autos, though not quite as many

S&W 629 is loaded and three speedloaders are too

GP-100 is loaded and three speedloaders as well

I rotate between my Mossberg 500 (also has 5 rounds on the stock) and Rem 870 for which shotgun is my 'go-to' each week,
and there is always a bandolier of 50 12-gauge rounds I can grab in a pinch, with 00, 000, hollow and solid slugs :)

336 is always loaded with empty chamber and a few more on the sling,

Mosin tends to stay loaded with an empty chamber and many more on the sling :)

Springer M1a and many mags at the top of my next purchase list

photos of a 1911 and 5906 with just a few mags :)

and 629 with speedloaders

my favorite handgun ammo for anything beyond practice, is Hornady XTP +P heavier weight bullet, and in semi-autos the mags are staggered with Fiocchi +P FMJ every other shot.

You guys are really prepared. I feel like a schmuck for only having 2 mags for my cz-82. I try to find solace in my belief that anything that can survive 24 9x18 rounds is clearly a terminator and I should switch to my mosin.

I am also in the all of them camp. I thought that was the point of having so many.

Currently, for what I consider my carry guns and HD guns I have:

3 x BHP's in .40 with 6 loaded mags
Springfiled XD 9 Tactical with 4 loaded mags
Springfield XDM 9mm with 2 loaded mags
Mossy 500 with 8 rounds in tube and 6 rounds in sidesaddle carrier
AR57 with 4 loaded mags (200 rounds)
2 x AR15's in .223 with 18 loaded mags (mix of 20 and 30 round)
2 x SU16's with 12 loaded mags (mix of 20 and 30 round)
Ruger mini14 with 6 loaded mags (20 round)

Note that 1 of the AR15's, the Springfield XD9 Tactical and the Mossy 500 are what I use for 3 gun shooting. Even though the SU's use the same mag's I shoot moly coated bullets in them so I have the magazines marked for moly and seperated from the magazines used in the AR's.

I forgot, 4 x 31 round mags for the sub2000 in 9mm.
